Re: Chaikhana Tea Culture Website
dont know if this is just some spam or not. However after 2 minutes on there I would advise anyone against a purchase.
"Raw Pu-erh
Temperature ranging between 185° - 205°
# Steep between 30 - 60 seconds
Ripe Pu-erh
Temperature at 212° (boiling)
# 1 - 5 minute steepings (24 minute - 24 hour steepings possible"
"Cave Tea 1997 2 Ounce Canister, $11.00"
"Menghai 1999 Nicely aged cake from Menghai factory. Fresh, sweet aroma. 357 grams. $50 each. Raw."
Cave Tea????? What kind of Menghai? I dont believe one can get a '99 Dayi cake in China for $50

Re: Chaikhana Tea Culture Website
I haven't bought from this particular vendor, but if this is the same Chaikhana as the Chaikhana that's based in Santa Cruz, CA then they're probably legit. I've heard the store mentioned around here by some TC members, can probably find something if you search. From what I hear they have some nice tea ware, so hopefully they'll put that up soon.
From what I know they've been around for a while, but they did mail-order by catalog. They have a pretty spiritual approach to drinking tea.

Re: Chaikhana Tea Culture Website
They have always sounded a little wacky to me, but they definitely have some very devoted fans. In the past, they have had a printed catalog, but have purposely not had a website. I have not had a chance to visit the shop personally, so can't really comment directly on the shop, tea, etc.
At the very least, I think the proprietor believes what he's selling is what it's said to be. And, whether or not the tea is exactly what it's supposed to be, it still may be good tea.
They also sell tea from the guy who converted Jessica Simpson to puer tea, in case you were looking.
