Hi. I was looking through the Adagio's Masters selection on their site and I was curious about something. What is the difference between the Oolong selection Ti Kuan Yin and the Masters when they both look identical and from the same place? I guess this question applys specifically more towards the Fujian Jasmin Pearl also when it's the same thing but cheaper under the Oolong section. Just curious on the differences, thanks.

I've had both the #12 and the Fujian Pearl, and I think the FP does have a better overall taste... when tasting them side by side. I can't really pinpoint the advantages-- perhaps it's just a smoother, more balanced/cohesive experience. But I don't know if the extra $14 for the FP is really worth it for me.
Honestly, I think I prefer the #9 over the #12 because, from my experience and if I remember correctly, the Jasmine flavor was more intense in the #9. But others may perceive it as being too perfumey and prefer the more subtle and balanced flavors of the #12.
To each his own, right?

I cannot answer specifically, exactly.
But often the grade and price of a jasmine pearl is increased based on the number of nights/times the leaf is layered with jasmine flowers. Thus a higher grade would likely have more and deeper aroma, offering an increased # of floral steeps.
If a higher quality leaf is used, that too could affect grading and pricing.

Oooh okay, thanks. I was just curious since they both are titled jasmin pearl.. and look identical .. both from Fujian China, so I was curious about the different pricing is all. Perhaps they are different with different quality's to them or maybe ones older than the other.. hm.
