I have never tried roasting, nor would I know how to.

Back from vacation in Southern California! It was a great time, but I did miss my tea dearly. I stayed with my aunt & uncle in Santa Clarita, here are some pics of their view. :D

While there I picked up some Wuyi & TGY from Wing Hop Fung. Both are very good for the price. I also got some Sencha from a grocery in Little Tokyo. "Yamamotoyama" is the company, which I've since learned is grown in Brazil! We'll see how it turns out.

So much tea to try!!! While I was away, 4 packages arrived. Among them was OTTI #4 and my TA SO from ShyRabbit! :D Here is a pic of the lot.

Good to be back!

What lovely pictures :) it looks like a beautiful place.

I can't say I've tried anything drastic like that to save a tea. The most I've done is occasionally blended a tea that I wasn't especially keen on with another to try to improve the flavor and avoid wasting the tea, but these days I'd rather just find someone who likes it more than I do.

But that's for stuff I just don't like the flavor of. I haven't been into tea long enough to have the experience of a "fading" tea.

Beautiful pictures of CA nickE, I've only been there once, to San Diego, and loved it. :)

I'm also a new serious tea drinker so can't say I have anything long enough to salvage anyway, so while I haven't done this yet, I probably would learn how to rejuvenate tea in the future if need be. :)

Great pics Nick, It was nice to have you with us in our great state.

Yes I have tried to rejuvenate a couple of times. Neither were too successful, but I wasn't trying that hard either.

SpecialTeas Sungma Darjeeling this morning, have a nice day everyone!

Yes, I tried once; however, I can't remember what kind of tea it was. I've slept a few times since then! I do remember it just tasted charred! :D

Delicious cuppa' of MF Marco Polo this morning. :) Apparently hit temp, time, and amount just right -- all guessTeamated.

What I actually attempted was to make genmaicha from teas that probably needed resuscitation - not rejuvenation - as they weren't good from the start. I didn't know when to stop and I burned the teas, which eliminated any guilt I felt when I tossed the tea.

Maybe... If "reincarnating" the tea as ice-cream flavoring counts?

Rose congou in my cup right now.

Never tried. Even never thought about this :)
Is it easy? Or would I ruin everything? Hmmm - perhaps sometimes.

Hey nickE - nice pictures. Great landscape - why don't you drink tea there with this view? Imagine it to be great.
And really nice table - looks like a birthday gift-table :D

I am not in a green mood today. So there is Pu in my cup :) Which one? I don't know. It is a loose leave one. And it has been expensive - think far overpriced. Guess what - it is stated as black tea :!: And it says "steep for 2 minutes" - argh! Oh my - that is what I meant when I complained about our local teashops. The first time with Pu Erh - when I didn't know better - I steeped for 2 minutes - tasted horrible. And today with rinsing the tea first and steeping for 10 seconds - wow better than I thought! A lot of sweet notes in it. Think they sell a rather good Pu Erh a little too expensive with totally false instructions.
Just a little tea-story for today. :)

bye
Marco

Once I tried roasting some very good Bai Hao Yin Zhen with a pan and bakery paper. The results were interesting, at least.

Also, I once got a Qimen with aggressive smokiness. I left it in gaiwan (any other porcelain also?) for a week and it definitely improved. This trick I read from teamasters, if i recall correctly.

Just moved to a new place with my brother and friend. Good times :). I've used the tap water for a couple of times, and already some white chalk residue is beginning to show up. Got to buy some bottled water again.

I have never tried that. I have rarely added some fresh peppermint leaves and blended some leftovers.
nickE, nice images! A lot of tea
About to have Dancong Aria.

Yesterday, however, I had Matcha here: http://matchasource.wordpress.com/
prepared right in front of me by a cute looking guy + matcha infused raspberry tarts.

The flower adorning my tea today.

I did try and rejuvenate one tea, but I think it is a skill that really needs to be taught, or else it is a lot of trial and error, as the typical roasting method if done with to high heat, or handled improperly in just about any way can lead to some very bad tasting tea.
