Cuisinart CPK 17 vs. Pino Digital Pro

by jokerjoe23 » Jul 27th, '10, 15:42

Hey guys, I'm looking for an electric water kettle for gong fu and so far the two best options seem to be:

Cuisinart CPK-17: http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-CPK-17- ... 040&sr=1-1

Pino Digital Kettle Pro: http://www.amazon.com/PINO-ST-8706-Digi ... 163&sr=8-1

The cuisinart has six temperature settings at 160, 175, 185, 190, 200, 212. Do you think that would be enough? It also has a 30 min keep warm option.

The Pino seems like it would give me a little more control and is cheaper, though it does not heat up water as fast. The cuisinart is also a newer model and seems easier to use. Can anyone help me compare the two, preferably with experience? I know a lot of people are using the Pino, does anyone have complaints?

Thanks a lot, guys and ghouls!

No complaints with my pino. It does not hold exact temp, but the digital readout let you know when it drifts up or down a few degrees while the kettle is between heating and resting cycles.

I doubt that any other kettle with set temps is going to be more accurate at maintaining temp *and* let you know what the temp is.

BTW, i like mine so much I now have 2, but have only had them a few months now, so can't remark on sturdiness for the ages yet.

I can only echo debunix's Pino comments. I'm happy with mine. Even if it overshoots the temp at first and then falls below it to begin reheating again, none of that takes very much time. Certainly faster than a kettle on the stove. I've never regretted getting mine.
