Thursday TeaDay 7/29/10 Give the gift of tea?

by Chip » Jul 29th, '10, 01:37

Good news, it is TeaDay! Please stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed receiving weird tea as a gift, you can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Still Christmas in July. Do you give the gift that keeps on giving, namely of course TEA? If yes, what is your motive or reasoning? Please share.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone, bottoms up.

Yes I often give tea as a gift :)

It depends on if the person likes tea or not...I gave a lot of my favourite teas to my girlfriend for Christmas in December :)

Yes, I have given the gift of tea to some friends who enjoy the teas I share with them. This year I will definitely again be sharing some of the easier to brew teas quite widely, like my new favorite herbal tisane, the Lemon Myrtle Rooibos from the Cultured Cup.

Today I started with Diamond Tie Guan Yin from Norbu, definitely an easy-to-brew & forgiving tea for gifts, and now am enjoying a long session with some Honey Orchid Phoenix Oolong from Tea Habitat, which I probably will not give out so freely, as it takes a little more attention to bring out the best in it.

I've never given tea as a gift as I don't really know any tea-drinkers. I know one person who drinks tea. But I just started exploring tea myself so perhaps a gift of tea to that one person could be a "thank you" gift from me for her various good deeds toward me. :) Thanks for the inspiration and idea.

Yeah, I haven't given any tea gifts either, because I don't know that much people who drink tea. Maybe I should though.

I've had this craving for DHP again :D. Probably going to drink it soon.

Sometimes I give tea as a gift, if I know the person's tastes.

Keemun this morning, sencha with lotus petals last night right before bed. It tastes kind of like jasmine, except just floral without the recognizable jasmine scent.

I have, but my coffee loving friend never mentioned it again. :( It's better when someone is a tea drinker and you give something they like. Like my SIL and her first Banko. She was pretty happy. :)

SpecialTeas Balasun Darjeeling again this morning.

Have a nice day everyone!

I have, but only to those I know who drink tea.

More of the Japanese black tea this morning, with a delicious nectarine from H&D. :)

I have given tea as gifts. Was a real big hit with my mom - and I now gift her tea quite often, as I know she would never spend the money!

Lots of yunnan today, first dragon pearls, now some yunnan noir.

I gave tea as a gift for the first time in June (at the end of the school year) to a friend and collegue of mine who I just got into tea. We started drinking it together at work which was nice. I would give it again at Christmas to her and some other friends I know that enjoy tea. I had my pu-erh this morning and and am getting ready to make some white peach tea now. :)

I have never given tea as a gift.

So yesterday I was happily enjoying some 2005 Mengyuan Hao during a thunderstorm when lightning struck a power line and I lost electricity. Just as I was about to reheat my water! :( Anyway, it's back on this morning and the tea is still in the gaiwan. :D Back to business!

I have a couple of TeaFriends; we give each other tea on a fairly regular basis. Sometimes I'll give tea to my non-tea-drinking friends in some attempt to draw them into the tea world; some bite, others just set it on a shelf. Ah well.

It's a chai sort of morning. I need something strong and spicy to clear my head.

Yes, I've given many gifts of tea and teaware:
* My son now owns a chou zhou pot and several old single bush teas.
* My daughter now owns Hagi- and Banko-ware along with several great gyos and white teas.
* May oldest niece recently received a tea assortment from The Steeping Room in Austin.

I give tea gifts to folks who would appreciate them.

Zencha's Ultimate sencha (2009) for breakfast tea and more Lin-Tou for lunch.

Not really, except for a couple of very good friends who I know enjoy good tea.
