Friday TeaDay 7/30/10 Fave tea for July?

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Can you believe it is the virtual end of July. What was your fave tea of the month? Please share about it.

This month I've drank almost nothing but sencha and matcha, and I've been loving it. I've barely touched anything else, but I know that part of it is because I find sencha extremely refreshing, even when I drink it hot on hot days, and I guzzle matcha because I need the energy boost (while I'm taking care of my cousins, ages 6 and 3), and it's delicious in soy or almond milk lattes.

Just had a pot of genmaicha after experimenting on a blend of black teas for Hong Kong style milk tea, which is the most I've strayed from sencha in a long while. I did enjoy a soy matcha latte at Macha Teahouse today, however, so I'm still keeping up the pattern.

I drank a bit of everything this month, but Wulong is still my favorite. Gaoshan Wulong that is.

Although I did have several different kinds of tea in July (and an occasional Yerba Mate) I mostly enjoyed pu-erhs and rooibos tea (I know it's really a tisane lol). Since I try not to have any, or very little caffeine after the morning hours, I really enjoy flavored rooibos teas both hot and iced. I just finished my morning pu-erh now (slept late today.)

I actually broke out the pu-brick this month during the final game of the World Cup, to cheer on the team for which I was rooting (it worked, too), so that was my favorite. Other favorites are longjing and sencha with rose petals.

My fav Tea this month was 2nd Flush 2010 Hattialli Golden Lion - Assam from Lochan Teas.

An absolutely delicious assam, with or without milk, with or without food, morning, noon, or night!!!!!!! A new go-to tea.

In my cup this morning, and last evening.

No longer mythical; granddaughter Samantha Lyn is now home from over two years in Japan! She got in last night; haven't seen her yet, but am lining up all my GREEN teas!

TGIF!

The Spring 2010 DYL Oolong I got from Victoria has to get this honor. I'm steeping leaves for a second day (about infusion 10 I'd guess). The second one today was left for 45 minutes. The flavors are slightly muted but the color is still strong and there is no bitterness!

Definitely Japanese, and definitely green. I'm still working on (wrong verb) the stash of shincha I rashly invested in this year.

No tea today. I'm off to the hospital in a few minutes for a procedure to correct a heart problem that just cropped up unexpectedly and that someone with my diet and medical history should by rights never have to worry about. Chalk up another one for the general perversity of things. There will be more tea on the other side, though.

Wow, friday already? I lose track of my days so quickly when my off days fall in the middle of the week.

I tried Snow Dragon for the first time a few weeks ago, and I think I'm very much in love. I've never had a green tea that tasted so... white. And yet I liked it better than most white teas I've had too. I was also positively enchanted by the way the leaves were shaped into little curls!

Thai chai today. I'm really on a chai kick lately, which is doing well for my chai stash that is almost never touched otherwise.

I know exactly how you feel, I just got back from my pre-surgery check up and will be having surgery on Tuesday morning although I too am very healthy. So, Tuesday morning will be no tea, or even water for that matter for me, but like you said, on the other side...I hope all goes well with your procedure.

No particular tea stood out for me this month, but I chose Chinese Black.

Nilgiri Blue in my cup at the moment.

Though I've been drinking a lot of good tea lately, I would have to say my fav is the 2010 Spring Li-Shan Tsui Feng from Hou de. Not sure how to describe it... but it's GOOD.

Tough call here as well, but I would have to say my old fave Yutaka Midori, actually a sister selection, Supreme from O-Cha. This stuff is bangin'. Had a lot of other good sencha this month, but the YMS stands alone.

Speaking of, YMS to start the TD, SweeTea joined the TD while Lili and Fuji passed through the TeaTable for destinations unknown. Followed by Kirameki which is also outstanding!

Silver Cloud white tea from local tea shop...once of my staples since I´ve discovered it...it´s really nice having back in the house
