by auhckw » Aug 2nd, '10, 12:06

I am not sure is there such thread, but I plan to buy some good/recommended raw pu-erh for keeping and to be enjoyed in years to come.

I hope to buy a few good pieces every year for keeping.

Any recommendations preferably those can be purchased online?

I liked 2009 spring jinggu wenshan (big tree, +300 years' old claimed), jk teashop (peak pu er page), found it very pure and structured. you can sample their teas, which is nice. what would a tea be within 15 or 20 years ? well, maybe in 20 years we'll open a thread on Teachat :)

Can I roughly judge the tea is good as in the price. Eg,

松丰号 - 班章古树茶 (春茶)'09 SongFongHou - Banzhang Old Tea (Spring) '09
http://www.skip4tea.com/%E6%9D%BE%E4%B8 ... doit=order
RM350 / USD110 for 250g

So assumed that this tea is price at this price now, so can I say that in 10 to 20 years later this is going to be more expensive / taste better (assuming that I keep it well)?

that cake does look good indeed, however the price, no. Banzhang is nothing but a name that fetches the high price. Dont get me wrong, they can be delightful, however you can secure some great 357g. beengs from 2009 for mere $40. Thats what I would do at least. Price does not always mean quality.

u have to taste / sample it yourself. price or mountain does not necessary means a good tea for investment for future dinking or returns.

If you're interested in Lao Banzhang and in the West, about the only one worth getting is at Hou De, but it's from 2005 and 2006.

Most excellent tea from 2009 and 2010 are astronomical in price. Good enough (like from Essence of Tea shop or from Douji Yiwuzhengshan) isn't too bad but they aren't really cheap.

If you want my advice, get the standard Dayi for 2010 and wonder around the Internet for decent 2007, 2008, 2009 tea. Most good teas have had their prices raised by then or is gone by now in the west.

I also have been finding out that they are indeed not cheap. I will definitely check out Essence of Tea though. Thanks!
