Zojirushi Help!
Hey -- Zoji users! Do you use bamboo charcoal in your zoji? Also, how do you turn yours on and off? I've been just pulling the cord from the back of my CD-WBC30 to turn it off. Is there a switch I'm missing?
Re: Zojirushi Help!
I usually just hit the Timer button a few times and put it to sleep for 6 - 10 hours.
Re: Zojirushi Help!
When I'm home, I usually don't turn it off at all. If I'll be gone for more than a few hours I just unplug it. That's the only complaint I have with these hot-water dispensers. Other than that, I think they're great. Mine is actually a Tiger, but they all seem to be pretty much the same.chicagopotter wrote:Hey -- Zoji users! Do you use bamboo charcoal in your zoji? Re: Zojirushi Help!
Are you supposed to turn them off? I just fill mine to the top and leave it warm forever.
Re: Zojirushi Help!
I think I've only unplugged mine twice in about 3 months. If the intent was to shut them off each day they would probably have a more convenient switch. Mine has auto-shut-off if it runs out of water, and I think most of these dispensers have this feature.Cyphre wrote:Are you supposed to turn them off? Agreed...got the on/off info covered. Any experiences w/ charcoal in one? Good idea/not good idea?xmfi wrote:I'm curious about the charcoal thing, too. I've never put it in mine.

You may want to contact the Zojirushi or Tiger office in the US and ask them. I'd be concerned if this would have some ill-effect on the dispensing system inside the machine, or if it would throw off the accuracy of the temperature monitoring system.chicagopotter wrote:Agreed...got the on/off info covered. Re: Zojirushi Help!
I have 3L Zojirushi and use a piece of activated charcoal that I put inside. I've been doing this for about six months to a year (I don't really remember when I first put one in) without any problems, I assume it is filtering the water although I'm not sure I could taste the difference (admittedly I have never tried). The lining is intact, no damage from the charcoal. I checked the temperature for the 208 setting with a candy thermometer and it is accurate, and I haven't had any problems with dispensing.I also don't turn mine off. I always tell myself that I'll start using the sleep timer, but I always forget.
