Welcome everyone to TeaChat. I hope you will stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day!
Yesterday we continued discussion on the TeaCruise. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. While nobody was watching the helm because we were all at the TeaBall, the good ship TeaChat struck an iceberg. It looks like we will be "Lost" on a deserted island. Do you save yourself or do you return to your room to grab your tea and teaware? HAVE FUN and share.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone on the deserted island named TeaChat. Bottoms up.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/12/10 She's going down ... save my tea?
Grab the tea, as many people as I can find, several lighters (and pray there's wood on the island), and sunblock. And go raid the pantry, partially for food, partially for pots in which to boil water.
But sadly, the sunblock is probably the most important... otherwise, I'd be out with sun poisoning an hour into day one.

I run back to the room and grab my tea, teaware...and innertube! (Seriously, if I were ever on a cruise, I'd bring one.
) Then I jump in and try to float towards the island.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/12/10 She's going down ... save my tea?
I've lived a good life; I'm going to sit and sip Tea and go down with the good ship TeaChat. All the while, I'll be thinking of all the wonderful people I have known, the amazing inventions I've seen come to pass in my lifetime, and all of the marvelous sights visited in many countries.
And, most important, I know that the people who love me will be celebrating my life and the fact that I was doing two of the activities of life that I truly love; drinking Tea and cruising.
Sipping on a really good cuppa' this morning; Mariage Freres Marco Polo.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/12/10 She's going down ... save my tea?
It seems everyone went down with the ship ... or this topic has overstayed its welcome among the serious TCers?!?
I am going back for tea and teaware ... unless pain is involved ... then show me the exit please. I would then hope for ancient, wild tea trees on the island!!! On the island, it will be survival of the fittest ...
Began the TD with a very good session of Yutaka Midori Supreme from O-Cha with SweeTea while Pyrit and Lili passed through.

I'd run back to the room, grab as many canisters as I can find, preferably metal ones with double lids and near air tight seals, and start fashioning myself a teacanister raft. I figure I would contact Chip to see who else he sold those Green Canisters too as these are actually the ones I'm thinking about, and perhaps enlist him to help with his lashing skills (similar to his kyusu repair). And use this tea raft to carry as much tea and teaware as possible away from the ship!
Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/12/10 She's going down ... save my tea?
I would head straight for the life raft. i would try to grab whatever might be useful that i passed on the way ( including tea/teaware, food, etc), but no side trips. Drowning looks like a really bad way to go, no thank you.
Kind of late to be having my first tea of the day, but i just got the tea swap box i have been waiting for and couldn't resist trying the rishi puerh. First infusion i only infused 2 minutes of the 3-4 recomended ( i ususally brew according to any included instructions the first time, then experiment). And was a little concerned when i saw how dark it was, but it is actually pretty good, has a nutty flavor, nothing like the fishy smell that came from the canister when i opened it.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/12/10 She's going down ... save my tea?
I am off the ship and into a lifeboat, because, worrier that I am, I have packed a backpack full of waterproof packets of tea that I've collected on the cruise, teaware, and some tea seeds. My backpack also holds a stainless steel saucepan that we can use to boil water and to cook with, a tea strainer, and a LOT of matches. And toilet paper.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/12/10 She's going down ... save my tea?
I am in the lifeboat, for this is the good ship TeaChat, which means the lifeboats are fully stocked with tea and tea ware, oh and kettles too; everything we need to enjoy tea as we head for the nearest island or rescue ship.
Began the day with some cool shincha leftover from yesterday, then matcha Tenkei Hana, and now Eight Immortals oolong.
Cheers.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/12/10 She's going down ... save my tea?
I thought about grabbing my tea but ended up getting on the lifeboat.
For the record, I blame this all on Pyrit!
Had a few steeps of 2007 8582 before getting bored with it.
I might go back and give it another shot later.
Thinking of finishing up my Nishi asa from Rishi later.

I am sure there will be a full and formal inquiry on the matter. Perhaps Pyrit will be forced to walk a plank. At the very least, no cat treats tonight!!!nickE wrote:I thought about grabbing my tea but ended up getting on the lifeboat. For the record, I blame this all on Pyrit!
TD continued with genmaicha with sushi and sashimi with the Mrs. and finishing up with a tasting of Sae Midori in a Momiji Arita Kyusu set.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/12/10 She's going down ... save my tea?
I'd also run for the lifeboat and would hope that (as Seeker said) there would be plenty of tea and teaware in the lifeboat. No tea now, it's off to dreamland for me in a few minutes...
