Tuesday TeaDay 8/17/10 Back to the future teas?

by Chip » Aug 17th, '10, 00:46

Greetings again to TeaDay, 2020. Everyone is welcome to drop in and share what is in their cups throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed whether we would drink tea in 10 years from now, 2020. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic about the future.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Still in the year 2020. Do you anticipate more and more NEW TEAS or will you be looking back more and more to the OLDIES YET GOODIES? Please share!

I am looking forward to going back to the future on TeaDay with everyone! Bottoms up.

I am thinking new teas...I like trying them...but I am also thinking many of the teas I am drinking now will not be avalable in the same form in 10 years!

So maybe the only teas which will be the same will be the ones I age that long...but then those will have changed a lot over 10 years too!

Both, no doubt. I like to have something to look forward to, and fully exploring the tea world should last me a few lifetimes. Especially at the glacial pace I'm going.

Oolong is just the thing for this rainy day.

I have always loved experimenting and trying new things. I dont' see that ever changing. But I am also very loyal to things I love. I enjoy both the comfort of the familiar and the excitement of discovery. I generally find a balance.

My sample of Yunnan Golden Curls arrived yesterday. I'm enjoying my first cup of it this morning. YUM!!!!

I will always want to be trying new teas, but during this exploration you always find those that you will turn to again and again.

Feng Qing Yunnan Black tea in my cup this morning.

+1

I hope that by 2020 I will have found many new good teas but I just can't imagine not drinking my current favorites every once in a while. Its so exciting to think about all the teas I havent tried yet just waiting for me.

more tie luo han this morning. Maybe something white tonight.

Both. When I order teas--and I can't imagine this habit will change much-- the bulk of the order is something I've already had and know that I like. Then I add on a few new ones to see if I like them. My most recent order was my standard Earl Grey and English Breakfast, as I'm really a black/morning tea kind of person. But I also ordered Assam, which I had never had by itself, and a tisane I hadn't had.

Today's cup so far has been Earl Grey (of course) and currently drinking "Fairytale Tea" (a tisane from Mountain Rose Herbs).

Defintely both. While i tend to have my favorite teas that i drink most often, i also enjoy trying new things.

Starting the day with more of the mystery pu.

Both, of course! There are so many teas out there, I'm sure you could try a new one every day until 2020 and still not have tried every single one.

Here at work today I'm enjoying Tao of Tea's Mao Feng Noir in my new Splitfire Pottery cup. (Poor cell phone photo, but you get the idea!)

Both old and new teas for me. I like to try new things, but once I like a certain kind of tea, I almost never give it up (exception: this magnolia-scented pu erh that my mom got me; it started out wonderful, but by the time I finished the tea, the perfuminess was waaaay too intense). I'm looking forward to trying new iterations of teas I already enjoy (rose-scented white; gyokuro; ryokucha) in the future as well.

Keemun in my cup right now.

Ohhh, nice cup geeber, and of course in your blue hues! 8)

I concur with geeber's comment, soooo many teas out there and both of course!

Shincha was in my cup this morning at the Mod's TeaTable and currently an 'oldie' from Upton, 2005 Shui Xian, which btw, still fails to impress.

Have a wonderful TeaDay everyone.

Very sorry to hear you aren't enjoying your Shui Xian, Mrs. Chip.
You are living pretty close to Shui Xian central.

You can guess what I am drinking this afternoon...
