Announcement, TeaDay is declared today! Please drop in and share it with us. Also share what is in your cup throughout the day!
Yesterday we discussed the future of tea in 2020. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. In the year 2020, new and amazing teaware will be made from material unimaginable today. Will you join the new age rage in teaware or will you still sip from the rudimentary clays of today (etc.)? Please share whether your teaware choices will likely evolve, or not.
Bonus, what might some of these new teaware material be like?
I am looking forward to sharing the future of teaware with everyone today.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/19/10 The future of teaware?
new nano materials that give you the ability to precisely control the mineral content of your tea perhaps?
I´m not sure I would use it though, whatever this miraculous new substance is...I find myself being drawn to more traditional teaware, especially the beauty of the wood fired ceramics I have been eyeing with envy on TA.

Absolutely. Imagine a teacup made from an alloy of unimaginium and unobtainium... Yep, sign me up for the future.
Going to prepare some gunpowder tea today, methinks.

I'm all ready for a super strong, shatterproof new glass teapot with a kyusu-style sasame screen. I will enjoy it whenever I want to see the leaves dance, for tai ping and silver needle. I will enjoy graceful gawans of the same material for comparative tastings, but they'll have to share space on the shelf with some plain old clay pots, and some shimmering and sparkling cups glazed in new and old styles. So where can I vote for some of each?

Can't wait for the Celadon thread.

Exactly! Read the features of this knife and tell me it wouldn't make a good tea cup. Just think Tea Cup.Trey Winston wrote:Absolutely. Imagine a teacup made from an alloy of unimaginium and unobtainium... Yep, sign me up for the future.

Features:
Special Materials: Using high-tech Zirconia crafted, high-density, high hardness, never wear, hardness (HRA87) is next to diamond, and abrasion performance is 60 times better than metal knife;
Healthier: acid resistance, alkali resistance, never rust, enjoy the flavor, does not have any reaction to food, real health products!
Excellent performance: because of its extremely high density and bright the knife is not easy to breed bacteria, cutting fish, fruits, vegetables and other clear-cut, anti-bacterial anti-fouling, easy to clean.
PS.
I wonder if I could make money with this blatant advertisement.

The new teaware might be made of some synthetic material that hasn't been invented yet and have a computer or something that allows you to program what temperature you would like your tea to be. Maybe it will also light up or something. Not sure what purpose that would have, but it would look cool.
I might get some new teaware, but I'll most likely stick with the old stuff. After all, I still listen to CDs. On a CD player. (Much to the amusement of my iPod-loving brother.

Keemun this morning.

I chose Maybe. If the price and style is right for me, and I can't find more of what I'm using now(hint, hint: bigger PersonaliTea?), then I might just go with the new stuff.

Maybe. Will they find a way to make yixing pots and clay cups unbreakable so I can have a set?

Fully functional and nonleaking Holograghic cups will be available in 2049, I will try to hold out for them.
By then all the Hagi I purchased will be over 40 years old and might need retirement?
TD began with a tasting of Den's Houryoku with SweeTea ... Lili and Shincha stopped by.

Likely so for me, I like trying new teaware. But it will be a mix of old and new, as it is now. I have no idea the material.

that would be useful for me too!Crafty_Mom wrote:Maybe. Will they find a way to make yixing pots and clay cups unbreakable so I can have a set?
btw...i am not sure drinking sencha and reading teachat before bed is a bad idea...I had a dream that there was a teachat warehouse...full of teaware...I was loading a kiln and discussing with Herbmaster and Chip about the pots that were about to be fired when suddenly the police busted down the doors!
I think they were raiding us for possession of Sincha!
