This weekend's TeaPoll and discussion topic. And lastly in the year 2020, do you see the way you enjoy tea changing drastically, somewhat, a little, not really? This could be in any aspect. Please share.

I am looking forward to another glimpse to the future TeaDays. Bottoms up.

I suppose I expect some change, but then, who knows for sure.
Sipping some 50 year old puerh (1960's) - a mix, some from Nada (now Essence) and some from Teaspring.
Kind of 'minerally' tasting.
But the 'mix' definitely adds complexity.
Cheers.

A funny thing happened to me. When I first tasted Nada's 1960s, it was not complex, but it was dark, rich, and smooth. A long ways down the road, I drank it again and it smelled and tasted like a mouth full of clay! I want to blame my storage, but I have never had this happen before, funny that you use the word 'mineral.' I have been airing it out for a few weeks hoping for rehabilitation.

I expect some change. Looking back ten years, there isn't much about my tea habit that hasn't changed. Foremost is the fact that I now have a tea habit.

No tea so far today.

Since I'm such a newbie to tea, it's inevitable that my habits will change with time. I hope they keep evolving and my appreciation for more sophisticated teas grows with time. I'm experimenting with each new tea order I place, and I'm trying to learn from the good folks here.

In 10 years, I hope to have a better collection of teaware as well, and the knowledge to use it properly. (actually, I hope that doesn't take a full 10 years. lol)

Doing a comparison of Yunnan Jig vs. Yunnan Golden Curls this morning, so I currently have two cups of tea before me.

I definitely expect some change. Since I'm new to loose leaf tea drinking I look forward to trying different teas and seeing which ones are my favorites. I imagine my favorites will change too as the years go by...I just finished Hadley and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice tea, first time I had it and it was delicious! :)

Given 10 years... I expect at least some change. Likely in brewing technique, if not in type of tea (I'm not giving up on green tea yet, but it's not exactly a current favorite). Over 10 years, I see a larger collection of teawares, leading me to more "proper" brewing (though I would be sad to see my IngenuiTea disappear completely).

No tea yet, headed out to the gym shortly, and got to sleep in a bit! Definitely some tea when I get back though.

Laura,

I love my IngenuiTEA too! Maybe in 10 years we'll have one made of glass or something else more "refined". lol

I expect some change. The influence of TeaChat should come in here. As will the natural evolution of learning more about teas and teaware from all sources.

best,

..........john

I said: not really but who knows.
No tea yet. I think I'll go with Wuyi Ensemble.
Just by accident I discovered this  http://www.trumptea.com/default.asp

I say some change. I think sustainability, fair trade, and organic will continue to be the buzzwords and more companies will carry those sort of labels.

Earl Grey today. I don't seem to be doing much branching lately away from my typical teas, but I am looking into pu-erh. That's exciting!

Not really. It hasn't changed a whole lot in the last 55 or so years; so what's a measily 10 more? :D

MF Marco Polo this morning.

10 years ago tea to me meant Celestial Seasonings tisanes in tea bags!

I think 10 years from now a lot more could change...even just thinking of this year I have tried my first Taiwan oolong (as opposed to mainland oolong) tried my first sencha, bought my first japanese style teaware....and I´m planning on this year adding matcha to the list of teas I have tried and buying my first gongfu set for drinking oolong and puerh this winter. That is a lot of change in just one year, nevermind 10!

10 years from now I expect to be finished school and have my career well under way...I am sure that working regularily, and having a larger teabudget will change things too.

10 years from now I am sure I will also be living with my gf, and we´ll be settled into our new home...and I will be brewing teaday for two.

My tea explorations have been increasing exponentially. I was reviewing my notes in another forum and there, back in 2004, I was complaining about the difficulty of getting my SeaDyke brand Ti Kuan Yin. It was another 3 years later before I finally opened the tin of TenRen Pouchong that had been sitting unopened since it was purchased in desperation on one of those days when I couldn't find my usual, and didn't want to settle for a box of tea bags. But as noted, it took me 3 years to break into it. It was another year before I bought my puerh (the Rishi Tuo Cha) and then a year later, just last August, I discovered Alishan oolongs, and in this last year, I've also had my first sheng puerh, wuyi oolong, dan cong oolong, yellow teas, sencha, gyokuro, and matcha, korean tea (powdered, green, and 'yellow'), given up yet again on all non-yunnan-gold black teas (lapsong souchong, nilgiri, kenya, keemun, darjeeling, all sad mistakes), ordered teas and teapots over the internet, from the US, China, and Japan.

I think the tea frenzy is starting to settle down now, and expect in 2010 I'll still be a tea omnivore by then, flitting between smoky and earthy and vegetal and floral and sweet, still avoiding most v. assamica black teas.

Today starting with some Sayamakaori shincha, always a good start to the day.

I have some of that "Sea Dyke Brand" tie guan yin...you like that stuff? It sure is cheap in Chinese grocery stores, but to me it tastes like roastedness and nothing else. (At least the name makes me laugh.)
