This is a fun topic. I am going to have to dig out some of my celadon.

Here are two of my favorite celadon cups. They are very small and so detailedl. A very unique dark olive color. They came from eBay last year.

I think this has the potential to be my favorite thread on this forum! Absolutely love celadon.

I recently posted some pictures of a supposedly old (sold as 19th century; doubt it's true) celadon cup quite similar to those in the pictures posted by brandon. I won't double post, but if you're interested, you can see it at http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 35#p165259.

I might also have taken some pictures of some celadon pieces at the Shanghai Museum when I visited last year. I'll see if I can dig some up later this week. I also really liked some modern "Koryo" celadon teaware and incense burners I saw in Korea but they were unfortunately out of my price range at the time. (That just means they're still there as an excuse to go back when I have more money, though. )

So what definitely *isn't* Celadon?

It is also popular in Taiwan for mass produced teaware to be made in a celadon color, but is simply a pigment, not a reduction.

Great celadon Cory, "Brandon" and Victoria ...

Ru Kiln, around 1-2 years old. Incredible feel. In the cup, an OTTI Round #5 section ... which will go live tonight.

The cups are used for oolong and pu-erh mostly.

OK, so now we have a Celadon Thread and I am learning so much.
I have seen Celadon, and Ru Kiln on the web site pages of Dragon Tea House and others, and whilst admiring have foregone the impulse to purchase.


But these from Victoria remind me (just) a tiny bit of some Borneol that I have purchased, more the colour than the flaky slates that can appear in Borneol. can someone start a Borneol thread, and will our knowledgeable artisans tell us all about Borneol.
