Greetings TeaFriends and welcome to another TeaDay. You are invited to drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the week.
Yesterday we discussed more alternate uses for TEA. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Alternate uses for tea. Do you think medical science will ever conclusively determine once and for all that tea really is the miracle elixir that it is touted to be. Further it is used to cure diseases? Please share.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Wednesday 8/25/10 The miracle?
I am hopeful that some of the beneficial effects of tea will be confirmed, but I doubt tea will ever be used to cure diseases.
Going to have some White Peony today, I think.

Re: Wednesday 8/25/10 The miracle?
Voted "maybe".
But I am doubtful.
There have already been confirming studies aplenty.
However, it seems to me that "legitimate/mainstream" medical science culturally frowns on touting or even supporting "miracles". Thus my doubt in medical science as a whole doing such a thing.
And that said, there will always be the money grubbing hucksters overstating the benefits for obvious reasons.
Like most things beneficial, there are benefits, but usually also potential drawbacks.
I think some wisdom is found by seeking balance in all things.
Finishing up the day with some late infusion j g.

Definitively not.
Tea is indeed an healthy beverage but it isn't a medicine.

Re: Wednesday 8/25/10 The miracle?
Yes, I am hopeful, I actually started drinking tea for the many health benefits and feel that I am indeed healthier since I became I regular tea drinker. I have read about Essiac Tea (actually a tisane) that has supposedly been used to treat cancer, and I work with someone whose father buys a tea (also tisane, can't remember the name) online that he believes has helped him for the past 3 years (he was given less than a year to live) battle his cancer. Hype? maybe, maybe not, after all, there are many homeopathic remedies for many illnesses out there that seem to work, so who knows, maybe someday there will be a tea cure, wouldn't that be wonderful?

Re: Wednesday 8/25/10 The miracle?
Well, I'm not sure that it will be proven a miracle cure, but I'm hopeful.
That would be pretty cool.

Re: Wednesday 8/25/10 The miracle?
Hopeful, but not holding my breath.
Either way I don't think any revelation of science would change how I consume tea. I may just end up living longer to enjoy more tea. That would be nice.
I'm expecting a tea delivery today! Trying to hold off on my morning tea until the mail comes... not sure if I can make it

Re: Wednesday 8/25/10 The miracle?
Tea can be healthy to drink, as opposed to some other beverages.
Patients, desperate for a cure, may think a Tea or tisane helps them. That positive thinking, in my mind, is what makes them feel better, not the drink itself.
As I am on several types of medication, I must watch what I drink carefully and not ingest some herbal teas, etc.
Moderation in all things seems the way to go for me. Wish I'd learned that in my younger days.
Hot Cinnamon Spice from Harney and Sons this morning; the weather is cooling down a tiny bit.

Re: Wednesday 8/25/10 The miracle?
Yes, I am hopeful, but still. Same is true for most antioxidants and it's not really changing the world. Those who know, make better choices. Like choosing veggies over fries. Still not going to keep people from eating fries. It's not a miracle cure.

I don´t think tea can be considered a miracle drug...I do think it´s generally healthy but so are most other plants we consume.

Re: Wednesday 8/25/10 The miracle?
I started by curing my aversion to waking up with some shincha this morning--Honyama today, the last of my set from Yuuki-cha.
I look for tea to help with my general mood, but drink it because I like it, and doubt anyone is ever going to show miraculous results from drinking it. People in countries that drink lots of it have plenty of health problems, and so do those who live in countries where they don't. But I like tea, it smells good, tastes good, and preparing it is a small relaxing interlude in my day, sharing it is a wonderful thing--watching someone's eyes light up as they take that first sip, so it's all good anyway.

Its not a miracle drug per se. But it was used as a medicine from the very beginning.... before buddha got enlightenment.
