It is officially another TeaDay. Come join us and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday we discussed the possibilty of the miracle of tea in the future. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. So for the sake of argument, they do discover that a particular type of tea is indeed the miracle elixer guaranteed to cure what ails you if you drink it all day. Problem is, it is not your fave tea. So do you switch?
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/26/10 It's a miracle!
Switch teas and never drink whites again? I would have to really think about it.
To celebrate that I don't need to switch today, at least, I'll brew up some silver needle. Take that, hypothetical miracle tea.

I voted 'other'.
If I had a serious ailment and this new tea was the cure, you bet I would drink it all day, in addition to my favorite teas!
Woh - I'm a three fisted drinker tonight! (oops, don't have three fists, ahem, two fists and a foot?
)...
nth infusion of the mornings j g, 1st infusion of some 18yr loose pu, and a chamomile blend.
Uh oh, someone's gonna be gettin' up to go potty in the middle of the night!
Cheers.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/26/10 It's a miracle!
If I had to give up all of my favorite teas, I would develop depression and decrease in desire to live.
The miraculous effects of this 'other' tea would have to include sufficient elevation of mood to overcome the sadness of switching to it.
Today, my mood has been elevated by shincha, jasmine silver needles, and a new-to-me oolong, Huang Jin Gui from Norbu. All so floral and sweet and elevating, in fact, that I am thinking tomorrow better be more puerh to keep me firmly anchored to the earth.

If it cures my addiction to all the other teas, sure.

Trying a sample of Yunnan Noir this morning. It's a little more smokey than the Jig, I think. Very nice breakfast tea. I like it very much.

I'm with those who would just drink the elixir tea plus their favorite.
More tea is always good!

LOL!!!!! Perfect!!Proinsias wrote:If it cures my addiction to all the other teas, sure.
Hahaha!! That's kinda what I was thinking. That, or depending on what "ails" me, I might. But doubtful I could ever give up oolongs or want to.
Another morning cup of Turzum Darjeeling.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/26/10 It's a miracle!
It would definately depend on what kind of tea it was and if i liked that type of tea. if it was a type i dont like (ex. green) I dont think i would switch. if it was one of the types i do like it may become my regular tea but i wouldnt give up my favorites.
No tea this morning, hopefully will be able to squeeze some in before work.

1) I am having a terrible time finding where to create a post to ask this next question.
2) What is the best tea anyone reading this question would recommend to me that will provide me with the greatest caffeine boost in the early morning? I had a first flush Risheehat Darjeeling that did the job and was overall the best tea I have ever had with no other contenders coming close, that I can no longer get my hands on. I have had other Risheehat darjeelings that all had less caffeine and were always much more bitter so my second favorite tea is the Yunnan Gold, but as I said, it does not come even close to that one specific Risheehat Darjeeling that I had when comparing the caffeine levels. Any suggestions?
BTW, in order from my fav to least fav tea. 1st Flush Risheehat Darjeeling, Adagio Yunnan Gold, Adagio Wuyi Oolong, Den's Tea Sencha Fukamidori, the other Risheehat Darjeelings I have had, Adagio Jasmine Pearls, Den's Tea Fukamushi Special, Adagio Pu Erh. I will not ever drink the last two again.

This can be discussed here, or you could post under Tea and Teaware>Other. Or you can do a search with the keyword caffeine as well.boylerya wrote:1) I am having a terrible time finding where to create a post to ask this next question.

IMHO, there is no way to really answer this in absolutes since so many factors come into play ... and a host of variables for each.
So find a tea that you like and enjoy it, you will get more caffeine that way.
Welcome to the forum!
Re: Thursday TeaDay 8/26/10 It's a miracle!
I understand one year a tea may be better than another year, or per season, etc. But I was hoping someone could provide a suggestion for right now that may have had the Adagio Yunnan Gold for instance and can say they had another tea that provided a noticeable difference in caffeine boost in comparison.

I'd opt for a bowl of koicha, thick matcha, for a morning boost.
