Welcome one and all to another TeaDay. I hope you will drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday we discussed whether or not we ever tire of tea. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Different than yesterday's topic. Does your tea time/experience/ceremony ever bore you or simply not excite you as it once had? Please share if and how, and what you do.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. And yeah, bottoms up!

Never bores me but sometimes I am too rushed or tired to do the whole ceremony / full experience and resort to throw it all together very quickly
Not a lack of excitement, just a quick route to a fairly decent cuppa

No, not really. Tea has always been pleasurable for me as it was one of the few daily pleasures my mama and I had during WWII when I was a child. A cuppa' and a slice of toast with Grandma's homemade jam on it was a real treat.
I'll probably be trying a new Tea today. I still have a few samples left that I haven't opened.

Re: Wednesday TeaDay 9/1/10 TeaBoard?
Yes - usually when I don't have time to sit down and enjoy the process, then tea becomes "just another beverage." Actually, that's been the case lately. But vacation tomorrow, so maybe that'll help.

Some days there is only time for a quick cup. Other days can go as far as Chanoyu. Everything in between.

I say yes, on occasion. Not that I get bored with tea itself, but more that sometimes I am so excited to try a certain type of tea, or am craving one of my favorites, or just want some down time with hubby. Other times, I just want a cup of tea, plain and simple.
Right now, I want a cup of English Breakfast. Plain and simple.

im not sure if its boredom or laziness, but sometimes, the thought of making tea just takes too much time/energy/attention. and even thougth i may want tea, i just cant get arround to making it.

I tend to get so into a structured routine that I forget how much I enjoy variety, change when it comes to tea. So I recently was feeling like I was in a bit of a rut, shincha shincha shincha. Nothing wrong with shincha, but I needed to shake things up a bit.JBaymore wrote:There is no constant; life is about change. Change is good.
Never boring.
The prelim tastings for the Pu-OTTI really shook it up. When you shake things up, even your faves begin to taste better again. Plus the infusion of something really new like young sheng really shook things up ... in a very good way.
Began the TD with a prelim tasting of Den's Shin-ryoku asamushi (maybe more chumushi?) from Honyama, Shizuoka. Really quite tasty, brewed slightly lighter in leaf than I would usually. SweeTea enjoyed the tasting while Pyrit and Wulong observed.
Re: Wednesday TeaDay 9/1/10 TeaBoard?
Had my second taste of pu this afternoon. The little one took a nap, the other was in school, and I made a lot of headway in housework. I thought I deserved an hour of downtime with my kettle and the other pu erh that was calling my name.
Da yi Gong Tuo. Liked it even better than yesterday's V93. I need to go do some reading so that I have the proper vocabulary to describe it.

Cool ... yeah, I am pretty clueless about terminology so far. I thought Sheng was the Chinese for 3 Stooge Shemp!Crafty_Mom wrote:Had my second taste of pu this afternoon. About to break up my first ever beeng-s ... for Pu-OTTI 5 ... I think there will be another prelim tasting or pu PDQ.
Til then, another sencha currently.

Couldn't agree more. Always a pleasure to go to a favourite after leaving it for a while to try something else. Like a reunion with an old friend, familiar, easy going, and comfortable. When you shake things up, even your faves begin to taste better again.
As for getting bored...nah im still too young into tea to even fathom being bored by it
Re: Wednesday TeaDay 9/1/10 TeaBoard?
I actually think that lately the prep has been giving me more joy than the drinking. Perhaps I should stop drinking at the computer. Either that, or I need to mix up my tea choice a bit.
Today's cup is Oriental Beauty (as was yesterday's and the day before's). I want to finish up this pack before moving on.
Oh, and Hi All! nice to be here.

I don't do the tea ceremony but I get a lot of pleasure out of changing cups. My current 2 are a feldspar cup and a porcelain under-glaze brown cup. The porcelain cup is very small so I use the two per pot.
