If you could drink only one oolong
Hi! New here. I am trying to expand my oolong horizons, and thought finding out everyone's perennial favorite would be a good place to start. So, the game is this: if you were allowed only one oolong from here on out what would it be.

It'd probably be some type of a Wuyi for me. I like some TGYs too (the more roasted ones), but I tend to stay away from lighter Oolongs in general. Especially light Taiwanese Oolongs, not a big fan.

Same here. Medium/Dark roasted oolongs all the way. Likely I'd choose a Wuyi Yan Cha (faves being Rou Gui, Cong Shui Xian, and Tie Luo Han).

Only *one* oolong?
I need to go back and forth between the lighter and the darker. So I'll give two, because one just isn't enough. I wouldn't get tired of the light floral sweetness of the Diamond Tie Guan Yin I've gotten from Norbu, but I would pine for a Wuyi or Dan Cong or deep roast TGY. If I could have just two, I'd pick the Po Tou ('ginger flower fragrance') Dan Cong from Tea Habitat to go with Norbu's TGY, because the Dan Cong can take on aspects of the Wuyi or the spiciness more typical of Phoenix oolongs depending on which infusion and temperature.

im at the oppoite end of the spectrum as NickE I luv me some Taiwanese High Mountain.. especially a good buttery Li Shan. and just to follow up..DaYuLing and Ali Shan right behind

I guess that would be a Tie Guan Yin, but if I could have two, the second would be a Dan Cong.

I would choose Tie Guan Yin. But I am afraid that sounds like cheating, because there are quite a few types of Tie Guan Yin, from high mountain oolong flavor to near Yan Cha flavor, with various balancing points between oxidation and roasting.

I'm drinking #40 from Adagio right now. Not spectacular, but a good, reliable tea. I had some excellent Da Yu Ling this year but don't know if I could drink only it forever. I'd be hard pressed to choose just one. Take my advice and order a bunch of samples for IShopO. I have 16 coming my way...

Since I drink plenty of Chinese and Taiwanese green tea I'd skip the lighter high mountain oolongs and go for something much more robust, like a genuine Taiwanese Oriental Beauty.
