It is TeaDay, again. Please join us and share us what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday we described our TeaTimes. You can still vote and discuss yesterday' topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Summer is winding down, though the temps are sizzling in some locales. Have you begun to metamorphose into a different type of tea drinker with the uproach of cooler weather? Please share.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone.

My tea drinking isn't affected by the weather.
Keemun this morning.

Not really....I´m still slurping Japanese greens like I have been all summer. It´s been a chilly and rainy summer for me anyway and I found the umami of sencha to be comforting in the cold.
Still I am begining to look at aquiring Chinese style gonfu teaware and stocking up on oolongs again...I certainly am enjoying sencha but my old favourite is not forgotten...and I want to get deeper into oolongs and trying gongfu brewing
And yes it´s partly weather related...those toasty warm roasted oolongs are lovely on cold winter days.

Here is some heresy.
I usually drink green tea year round. This year I bought 6 kilos for my personal stash. I was at a store a couple of weeks ago and they had a clearance on espresso, 85% off. I bought about 2 kilos. Now my usual pattern is to drink green tea until my stash runs out and then switch to what ever until the next harvest happens. This year I have enough tea to get me through to June, the next harvest, but I also have a good supply of another great drink.
What to do, what to do.

Nah, nothing changes here.
Starting the day with Hou De's 2010 Baozhong. Really felt like oolong this morning for a change over Darjeeling.

I tend to crave darker teas and more fall flavors as autumn approaches, but I still drink my "summer teas" year around. What I drink changes from day-to-day more than season-to-season.
Waiting for my Anji Duet Green to steep this morning...

I do drink less tea when I am hot, but this has been a cool summer, and I work so much with a pretty steady indoor chill anyway....so not a lot of change with the approach of fall.
I definitely crave more earthy smoky puerh when it is overcast and gray outside.
But this morning, will start with shincha as usual.

The only thing about my tea drinking that may change from season to season is the temperature of the tea when i drink it. In the winter i prefer it nice and hot, in the summer i tend to let it cool little longer, sometimes until almost room temperature. if i have been doing yardwork, i usually wont drink tea hot because it seems to only make things worse.
Imperial pu today, still havent opened the last shipment from norbu, may try some of the black later today.

Looking at a high of 97 degrees here today, so have not had the cold weather yet, but I do not expect any change. I had thought that I would drink more iced tea during the summer, but that was not the case. Still drink it hot, except for those times we are actually staying outside in the heat for long periods, which is not something I do often
Then having some iced sencha/Hojicha is quite nice
Re: Friday TeaDay 9/3/10 TeaMetamorphose?
Yeah less greens for me, but I still do drink them. Like the fact that tea cools faster when it gets cold, so I don't have to wait as long to drink during the gongfu sessions.

I do tend to drink more blacks and oolongs in the fall and winter, but I still prefer sencha to just about anything, anytime of year.
This morning I started out with a decent sencha from harney & sons and after lunch -- a nice pot of 2009 dong ding.

The type of tea I drink isn't affected, but the amount is. If it's too hot I'll just drink ice water or something.olivierco wrote:My tea drinking isn't affected by the weather.
Also, my tea-choices are greatly affected by my mood, which can in turn be affected by the weather.
Anyway, studying all day then going home for the holiday weekend. Coffee for me.
