In Memory ...
Greetings fellow TeaChatters and welcome to an all new TeaDay, filled with lots of TEA. Please share what is in your cup with us!
Yesterday we discussed whether we would prefer our personal fave tea or variety in dire times. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
This weekends TeaPoll and discussion topic. Speaking of fave teas, is your next NEW tea likely to be a fave tea? What is the likelihood? Please share what your next new tea will be.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaWeekend with everyone. Bottoms up.
... Peace

Extremely likely. I only have fave teas in the house at this time.
I think SN would be perfect this Saturday.

REMEMBERING. . .
Maybe my next new Tea will be a favorite--it is an assam from Lochan Teas that I haven't tried yet.
No Tea this morning yet.

I really want to try a green tea next. Historically, I haven't cared for green tea much when I've had it at restaurants. Based on my reactions to "greener teas" in other catagories, I'm not all that hopeful. Smells too much like grass to me.
But I felt the same about black tea before trying the really good stuff. I haven't ever tried a *good* green tea before, so who knows? Anyone want to make a suggestion for something I can get from Adagio?
Trying Darjeeling #1 today. It's not bad, but still doesn't hold a candle to Darjeeling #2. I've tried all the Darjeelings Adagio has to offer now, and #2 beats them all by a mile. Going to have to buck up and pay the price for a few ounces of it.

Extremely likely-- my next new tea is either going to be ryokucha, heicha, or white tea with roses. All of those sound like I'd love them!
Chrysanthemum pu-erh this morning, as well as some iced green tea.

Probably not. I have a bunch of favorites in my cupboard already so my next teas will probably be something new...always in search for a new favorite
In my cup: I'm trying Ali Shan oolong for the first time this morning...we'll see how it goes

Good luck, I hope one makes the grade!msurads06 wrote:Maybe, so far i havent found a pu that i would consider a favorite, but maybe one of the ones waiting in the otti box will turn out to be a favorite.
It would seem that about half the new teas I open of my choosing are good enough to make my "long list" of faves, and I would reorder. Now to make the "short list of 5's," that is a realy long shot! I generally try to have 5 very specific teas in each of my categories on a short list of faves ... so 5 sencha, 5 Chinese green, etc. To make the list, it must be really special.
Began the TD with a prelim tasting of a new long list fave from Maiko, Hachiju-hachiya. SweeTea seconded the motion to add this one to the long list while Gandalf and Fuji sat clueless.

As for the topic, I am still rather new to tea, and right now my only "favorite" is the Uncle Lee's Ten Fu TGY that I have. It's of low quality but makes a nice cup for me. I have some other teas from Teavana, I'd hardly call them favorites, just teas that I enjoy the aroma and taste of.
My next purchase won't be a favorite as I've been looking to purchase things a little bit out of my element but not TOO out of my element. Last night I was perusing Hou De, TG, and Golden Teahouse. This is what's been on my mind (and in my non-checked out shopping cart)
From TG:
Iron Bodhisattva Classic Roast
Phoenix
and I am debating on switching those two and just getting the Iron Bodhisattva Sampler.
From Golden Teahouse:
Rou Gui
Shui Xian
Da Hong Pao
Haven't experienced any of these so excited to possibly get some.
Anyhow, today, in my teacup; I am drinking Bi Lo Chun. Not sure if I infused the 2nd infusion too long, or didn't add enough water as it was a bit harsh, 3rd and 4th infusions tasted great too. Had a GIANT Nihon Momo (Japanese Peach) that a friend from Japan shipped to me, it tasted excellent with the Bi Lo Chun.

Maybe...I have kiri no mori and matcha tools coming from O-Cha and the puerh OTTI on it´s way. One of those could potentially shoot up to my short list of favs.
Re: Weekend TeaDay 9/11-12/10 NEXT!
I went with the rather indecisive "Maybe" Simply because I really do not know, some teas are great but I could never afford to get them on a regular basis. So a big key on my "favorite" factor is how good it is compared to how it fits into a budget.
Lots of Samples are currently stored away waiting for me to shake off this cold.

I have Hou De's Silver Needles en route, hopefully it'll be here by Monday. Never had a white, and I don't have any favorites, so perhaps it may become one?
Re: Weekend TeaDay 9/11-12/10 NEXT!
``Pretty likely.''
I have loads of new teas on the way, including six different West Lake dragonwells. A friend of my son is a dragonwell fan so I am collecting good examples so we can see what this famous tea is all about.
We tasted Tea Gallery's (dragonwell) offering today but the leaf ratio was too low. 2.5 grams in 100ml porcelain hohin at 160F for 60 seconds yielded a brew that was too thin, yet a delicate creaminess coated the tip and outer edges of my tongue for a pleasantly long time. Next time I'll start with 1:1 ratio and increase if needed.
BTW, when will the good 2010 wuyi arrive???

Maybe- I don't have anything in the house that I haven't opened, and nothing en route, so I'm not sure what the next new tea will be... likely oolong, but what kind? And from where? These are the questions I haven't answered yet, as I'm trying to finish a few things off first.
Four Season Spring Oolong all afternoon with the bf. Sat around drinking our current favorite teas with some music in the background chatting about just about anything. GREAT afternoon! Wish I had more like this one.
