4 -
Last night I had an incredible and brand new tea.
Zhu Ye Qing Hong Cha from Sichuan.
Reminded me a lot of the tippy new hong cha from Wuyi, Jin Jun Mai.

Excuse my lack of relevant photo. I am still craving OOLONG. Morning Shui Xian.

I like some black (red) teas but I never crave them. I go through at most 200 grams over the winter, usually Keemun or Yunnan gold tips.

Tim's Jin Jun Mai sounds intriguing though. A tiny amount of the 2nd and 1st grade should arrive here today but I have no idea when I'll have the time to taste them. I plan to practice with the 2nd grade before I brew the 1st.

It's Friday! Hou de's Bei Dou No 1 is my breakfast tea today. Mmmmm

I love my black teas!!! Very high on the "crave" scale. I especially love my Yunnan teas... Gold, Golden curls, Jig.... MMMMmmmmm....

Golden Curls in my cup this morning. :-)

Hey Chip, are we going to get a tally for the week of which variety of tea garnered the highest crave factor?

Pam

Black tea in the AM is the best. Like Pam, Golden Curls really hits the spot. Irish Breakfast too.

I crave black teas in the evening and sometimes start thinking about my evening black tea in the early afternoon. I only have eyes for Japanese greens in the morning though. :D

I love my black tea! 10. Mind you, I do like my greens and whites and tisanes, but need my black tea.

This morning's cup was Earl Grey. I think I'll go have some more of that now. I've earned it. (My tub is now sparkly clean. This does call for tea. :D )

My encounters with all but a select few black teas have been so bad that I mostly spit them out, and the ones I have tried and enjoyed generally did not set up cravings--it's more that sometimes I open the cupboard and the little tin of yunnan gold suddenly looks like attractive again.

And it has been a long time since I last brewed some up.

I certainly crave them - especially in the mornings. And I have found that starting the day with a black helps me to better appreciate the oolongs that follow in the day, rather than when I just drink only oolong. This was quite a revelation for me.

Starting the day with Darjeeling from Tea Emporium.

I do get some black cravings but they´re not as strong or frequent as roasted oolong or Japanese green cravings are...so I´ll say a 6

We do drink a significant portion of black tea in our house. I have been drinking H & Sons, Kenilworth Garden Op nearly every morning for the past month. Smooth Ceylon. Most of our blacks come from Harney & Sons in the absence of cash for Mariage Freres in gay Paris. I also really like H&S Palm Court and Queen Catherine. The three listed here are probably my faves. We usually have these with half and half and sugar...Honkey Style!

We do enjoy their flavored blacks like Florence, and Paris. Paris, I suspect, is designed to be similar to our favorite black tea blend of all time from Mariage Freres, the inimitable -- MARCO POLO.

I don't work for H&S, they just offer condensed quality from one U.S. location -- so we order from them frequently.

Kenilworth was my morning cuppa.
