Menghai/Dayi - Same Batch, Diff Date

by auhckw » Sep 19th, '10, 01:14

I've got this Year of Tiger * Menghai Taetea Puer Tea 2010. Was browsing the net, and noticed something.

The batch are both the same 001, but the dates are the different.

Price: RM 75 (listed price)
*This shop is Menghai reseller. Their price are market price.

Price: RM 50 (listed price)
*This shop is known to be selling Puerh below market price. They admit they purposely sell below market price and target volume sales.

My query,
1) Does the different printing/packing date makes the difference in term of pricing or cost to the sellers?
2) Is this a common practice for big factory (same batch, diff dates)?
3) Does the quality differs same batch, diff date?

Went and asked 2 tea sellers and this is their reply

1) Nope
2) Yes. These days, it is very common in big factories as some puerh are produced in big volumes and 1 day is too short. Back then dates were preprinted on the paper, so they cannot change it, but nowadays the dates are printed on the day it is packed
3) Nope
