That's gorgeous.
I think it's very hard to judge lid fit from that angle.
And I have gaiwans that size--my smallest hold about 60 mL to the brim, but their useful capacity--the capacity where the lid fits but is not quite touching the water--is about 45mL. I use them primarily for tastings, where I want to compare 3-4 teas through many infusions, to keep the total tea volume I'm drinking under control. Mine don't have the base, though, and when using hottest water for puerh, the temps become an issue, because that rim is so small and so close to the hot water.
Just for yucks, I rechecked my small but not mini gaiwans--the koi decorated versions--and they are larger than I thought. I guess they would be listed as 120 mL by DTH, because they are 120 mL to the brim, and 85-90 mL to the edge of the lid, and my usual fill level (again, to keep the lid edges just above the water) is closer to 75 mL than 60 mL.
Contemplating a nice pretty set of four of those for tea tastings....would it be worth the cost to save the burnt fingers? And the celadon interior would make it more difficult to judge the infusion by color. But they'd be so so pretty....
