Greetings TeaFriends and welcome to TeaDay. You are invited to join us and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Friday we compared tea costs from yesterday to today. You can still vote and discuss Friday's topic.
This weekend's TeaPoll and discussion topic. There are Hagi SOs, TeawareArtisan SOs, OTTIs, even TeaShirts. What more can we do? Please share in this weekend long topic, maybe your idea(s) will be NEXT. Have fun!!!
I am looking forward to sharing this weekend's TeaDay with everyone, bottoms up.

Re: Weekend TeaDay 10/9-10/10 And the next will be?
Tokoname because I really like it - have a lovely Tokoname Kyusu and a cup.
And some cups - because I am in need of some
My teaday started with a Matcha (do not know the name of it) to awaken my spirits. Some time after breakfast I tasted the Yiwu Mtn. from the OTTI #5, and now I had some Sencha Oku Yutaka from O-Cha bathed in sunlight
More to come, 'cause I am in a tea-mood today.
Cheers
Marco

HA, 11 am and only 1 post!
Maybe everyone is reading the Hagi SO 12 "Spirit" topic?
I would like to see some kyusu SOsssssss. Tokoname, Banko, Bizen, more Hagi. Adding some other regional Japanese teaware to the Hagi SO program.
Special TEA offers! You know, special sale events with vendors. Interesting ...
And many more OTTI ...
OH, more TeaShirt designs!
Still thinking of more possibiliTeas

Chip, like we really need another kyusu or 2?
JK of course, one can never have enough kyusu.
Adagio's Black Dragon Pearls in my cup at work this glorious morning. Had a very delightful sencha with the mod this am!
Re: Weekend TeaDay 10/9-10/10 And the next will be?
Kyusu (tokoname, banko, etc)!
Also, yixing.
Sipping some warm water with lemon upon arising, also some 5th infusion gyokuro from yesterday kyusu.
Matcha very soon. Gonna try Ippodo's special autumn matcha which just arrived!
cheers.

Re: Weekend TeaDay 10/9-10/10 And the next will be?
Hmmm.....my teawares collection is pretty good already, and there really aren't a lot of gaps that I *need* filled in.
I'd like a few more smaller cups--3-4 oz--for sharing tea at home and work, because right now the cups I have for sharing are either very small (50mL) or large enough that a 2-3 oz of tea (one infusion) looks paltry in their vast capacities.
And I'd love more along the lines of the neat little travel sets from Hankook--trying to remember what they're called, with the base that has an inner rim with notches that serve as the strainer--they look like a cross between shiboridashi & hohin from the Tokoname teaware gallery. Would love one of these with the cup large enough to hold the full capacity of the bowl.
As for teas.....I've been enjoying several teas that are made in different places than their original namesakes--e.g., some 'oriental beauty'-style oolong from Yunnan, or the green Yunnan Mao Feng, or Taiwanese Ti Guan Yin. In some cases I've been able to compare the original to the transplanted version, but in others I've only had the 'transplant' version.
I'd be very curious to compare the 'original' tea from it's original location and variety of plants, and the same 'style' of tea from different places. E.g., a Mao Feng style tea from Huang Shan and Yunnan and.....does anyone in Assam or Kenya make one like these?
Or to try a variety of teas prepared from a single cultivar of tea in the same area: to see the spectrum of tea flavors coaxed from a single type of plant & growing conditions. Thinking here of stories of tea farmers preparing a small portion of their crop for family use in various ways but the bulk of it being processed one way for sale.
Today, starting with some Honyama sencha, a freshly opened package. My restraint in waiting to finish of the Sayamakaori amazes me. Mouth is still a bit scorched from that pizza yesterday, so it's going to have to be a green tea day today.....no hot brewed puerhs, sigh....

I ideally would add to my collection a silver kettle and cannisters from gyokusendo. I am also looking for a nice furidashi for my second chabako.
So I vote for a Gyokusendo SO!
Ippoen gyokuro this afternoon.

As cool as that would be, if you want one in your lifetime, I would suggest not waiting for the SO to happen!

I have thought about the "travel sets" from Hankook. In addition to a Korean tea OTTI, I would expect to see something from Hankook ... hopefully more sooner than later!
Re: Weekend TeaDay 10/9-10/10 And the next will be?
A Yixing SO would be completely amazing.
Also, a +1 on the Hankook travel set, sounds very cool.
No tea today, MSU vs. UofM calls for beer.

Re: Weekend TeaDay 10/9-10/10 And the next will be?
I'm working on my second large mug of mini little shu tuo's. They might not make the most exciting cup when brewing one tuo to 10 oz of water for a rather unspecified (long) amount of time. But it comes out smooth and soothing, which is a great accompaniment to getting work done.
Re: Weekend TeaDay 10/9-10/10 And the next will be?
The words Tokoname, Banko and Hagi always get my attention. Not sure how feasible a Tokoname or Banko kyusu offering would be. But definitely MORE and DIFFERENT Hagi artists would be welcomed.
I have several travel sets from Hankook, but one specifically made for TC would be nice. Better yet, a set made by a TC TA like Petr Novak.
I would like a special logo or seal pressed into the clay for a TC offering. It could be as simple as TC pressed into a circle.
Started the day with Red Peach from Silk Road Teas.

Where is the Tea Shirt?
I know chrl42 has great connections of yixing sources. If we can talk him into facilitating a yixing SO...

There are a couple TD topics on the subject as well!
Re: Weekend TeaDay 10/9-10/10 And the next will be?
Yes Victoria, a TC TA SO from Petr Novak would be awesome!
Can't wait for the Hagi SO tomorrow!!
Lot's of tea today, finally some sencha - YM supreme hit the spot. Some matcha as well, something I need to make just a bit more often.
Special sales from some of the vendors would be cool as well - maybe something where Chip does not have to do so much work! We do appreciate everything you do.Chip wrote:Special TEA offers! You know, special sale events with vendors. Interesting ...
