I broke the lid from my Mogake teapot by Hokujo today
Unfortunately, it came apart in many small pieces, and there is absolutely no hope of glueing it back together. I was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible to order replacement lids somewhere.
I already emailed the owner of Artistic Nippon (where the teapot was originally purchased) and Japanese Hand Craft (they sell the same model), but if anyone has any other ideas, it would be greatly appreciated!

That is too bad! They are quite nice and not cheap. I would be thinking the same thing. You might have a lid from another pot that might work.
Problem with trying to get a replacement lid for an artisan kyusu is they are often matched to the pot exactly and unless Toru has a lid sitting around there from a broken pot that happens to fit ... you might be out of luck.
Besides, the artisan would just rather you buy a new pot.
You might try posting under TeaSwap, maybe someone broke a pot and has a lid.

Too bad abouth the Hokujo. I think they'll tell you that the pot and lid are considered as one unit on most kyusu that aren't mass-produced, and that they're fired with the lid in place. I have seen some that actually do come with two lids though.

I haven't seen that, but that's brilliant! Why is it always the lid that gets broken?!
What I have done with mine is I turn them into tea pitchers, or water coolers.

if no other lid fits and you want to go on using the pot, maybe you could:
> place a ceramic cup or a saucer instead of the lid (you may find one that fits without difficulty, maybe order a cup or saucer by same potter and close style/color --keep the pieces of your broken lid in case you want to show or send them to a vendor so he can help find something)
> else brew without the lid: with a pot filled 1/3 or something like 100ml.

Maybe we should have a thread where everyone posts the spares from their broken tea ware with sizes and dimensions. Might be good for those with pots that have broken lids etc......just thinking out loud...probably silly

Doing a search for "exchangeable-lid" on the Cool Japan website turned up 4 results for kyusu with two lids. They ranged in price from USD $30 to $50.
Sorry Chip, no kyusu with one lid and two bodies were found!

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone! Got emails from Artistic Nippon and Japanese Hand Craft - both saying that the pot and the lid are thrown at the same time, so it's impossible to get a separate lid.
However, after raiding my teaware stash, I found a lid that fits perfectly (from Lupicia's Manmaru kyusu)
The set up is not the prettiest, but doesn't look too bad. I keep telling myself that it's not fashionable to have everything too matchy-matchy anyways!
