Yes, TeaChat does cost me money, but I'm grateful for it. The SO's are really great and although I haven't participated in an OTTI yet, I will be. The SO's are very well priced and offer incredible tea ware, so I feel that even though they cost money, they are more than worth it.

I voted maybe.

I use TeaChat to see what other members' think about certain teas and teawares I want to buy. I have an item in mind already when I come to TeaChat so the forum isn't the reason I buy. It just makes it easier to click the buy button. *** I used teachatters' opinions to guide me on which kettle to upgrade to. I had been using a hotpot.

I haven't seen many items on TeaChat that cause me to say I need that. Granted, there are a lot of beautiful teawares in the picture gallery, it's just not my thing (at least not yet). I'm still new at this so maybe it'll hit me in the future but for now I don't want to put out a whole lot of money beyond the tea itself. I drink my tea solo so there's no one to impress and no one to tell me that I'm doing it wrong.

Oh yeah - big bucks. All the teaware postings and special offers, and now I am so spoiled by only the best teas.

Happy Birthday Brandon!

Starting the day with Turzum Darjeeling delivered direct to my door from India in a Seigan "Spirit" Hagi limited edition TC SO teacup delivered to my door yesterday direct from Japan. Ahhh the good life!

No, not really
Teachat might have speed up some teaware purchases that I would have made anyway.

Ippoen gyokuro this evening.

Bon anniversaire Brandon!

Yes, TeaChat has cost me big bucks this past year! Teaware and more expensive teas. However, I'm adult and chose to spend this money; no one here twisted my arm!

The Asian style teaware I have purchased more for the look of them than the actual use, as I prefer black tea which pretty much commands a cup with a handle on it!

No tea yet this morning; can't decide what I want to drink.

No, not really. I've found some new tea shops trough tea vendor though. OTTI seems interesting, but I haven't participated yet.

Today some Oriental Beauty probably. I just burnt my mouth tough, so maybe I'll abstain from tea for today :p

TeaChat is free. I was already well on my way to more expensive teas and teawares before I found this place, having gotten a decent start on my tea education elsewhere, and knowing I wanted a few nicer pieces of teaware.

Today, brewing up a sample of Jade Dragon yunnan green tea from Norbu, in one of my cheap koi gaiwans, on an inexpensive basic tea tray also from my local shop, but drinking it from a teacup from a TC TA SO (In Praise of Shadows by shyrabbit).

I came into TeaChat with some dollar cups and good tea. I still have good tea, and some dollar cups ... and a lot of Hagi, Tokoname, Bizen, etc. ... the likes of which I never heard of.

So perhaps TeaChat has cost me a lot of TeaBucks.

I chose "other". I've spent a lot on tea and teaware, but if I didn't learn about tea and teaware on teachat I'd have the money but not the experience of drinking excellent tea properly brewed in a well selected vessel. The experience, as the Visa commercial says, is priceless.

Now I own a small Gyokku kyusu, a small Tea Gallery gaiwan, some tasting sets for OTTIs, and a variety of wonderful chinese teas.

Voted maybe because it's kind of a 'yes and no' thing.

Yes - SO's, OTTI's, stimulus to purchase, enabling, etc.

No - I think TC has saved me money, due to the experience of others, I have not wasted much money on bad tea investment, but have been led to wiser tea spending.

No Tea yet - just awakening post-b'day (11:45am here, heh heh).

Matcha, and soooooon.

Happy Birthday Brandon!

ps - thank you for B'day wishes yesterday everyone!

I have thought about suing adagio tea and it's subsidiary, Teachat, for forcing my hand on numerous occasions. But my wife gave me a stern lecture on personal responsibility last night and reminded me that we don't spend nearly as much as we wish we could, thus maintaining a very delicate financial solvency. I agreed and suggested we celebrate with another tea order!

But seriously, I agree with Seeker in that teachat has really only pointed me in the right direction.

otti 6 #5 today. Now, ti kuan yin (or however you spell it) has been returned to her etheric abode to shower mercy on others.

maybe...I was ordering high grade tea online from China before I found teachat so I don´t think I´m spending anymore on tea.

Teaware on the other hand....you guys could be influencing me to buy more of that!

only had one versatile pot at a time before teachat...now I have a few pots to choose from, matcha wares and I´m thinking of acquiring more
