Monday TeaDay 10/25/10 Seeing a new "newest and best?"

by Chip » Oct 25th, '10, 00:31

Welcome everyone to another TeaDay filled with steeps of our favorite elixers. Please do drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

This past weekend we discussed "newest and best" teas. You can still vote and discuss the weekend's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. More "newest and best." Are you seeing any "newest and best" TEAS out there that you MUST make your "newest and hopefully best?" Please share.

I am certainly looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up!

I presume as TeaConnoisseurs, we are always searching for a 'newer' and better tea ... a tea that may become the 'best'.

I let the searching part up to Chip! 8)

Adagio's Sencha Premier this morning with the mod at our TeaTable, currently in my cup Keemun!

I hope to see artmom stop in today, didn't see her all weekend.

I have turned the radar onto the Gyokuro setting! I have chosen one to certainly try, the Tsuru jirushi, this after just opening a fresh bag its cousin, Kame, and getting blown away by it again. The Tsuru is a level up. I am quite happy and content with the Kame, but it is so good that I am now on the prowl for Gyokuro.

And then there are others ... this will likely be a quest for better and best Gyokuro!

Thank you, Jo! I peeked in, but had nothing to add to the discussion. Also, Friday would have been my mama's 94 birthday, so I was missing her a bit more than usual. And she was the person who began my Tea Journey about 66 years or so ago.

I had just finished my Ippoen bag and your Week-end Teaday poll made me open my last bag of Tsuru Jiri Shi.

Not 'seeing' anything now.
But recently 'saw' some Japanese green from a new vendor.
Turned out great.

Started the tea day with organic matcha Tenkei Hana, then some of the new Japanese green.

Cheers.

I'm currently enjoying a a nice Darjeeling, 2nd flush. Very spicy, and flowery, and with a pleasant "cookie" taste to it! Can't describe it any other way, but I love it...

If the money situation goes in the right direction I might start to look for a good oolong, maybe the Himalayan Blue from Mariage Freres or something from Canton TeaCo. (Have to order something from the EU to avoid import fees!)

Lately I've been hunting for good Chinese greens for the most part... I am still learning a lot about teas and trying to find what I like and don't like. So far I am really liking greens, whites, yellows, and greener oolongs. I decided that I will continue journeying into Chinese greens to see if I can find some gems that really scratch that itch I have for good tea.

Currently drinking some Teaspring Dong Ding oolong. I was hoping for some new teas today which included a Xi Hu Long Jing, but alas no package today. With my luck it will be here tomorrow and I won't be able to enjoy it until after work at 1 AM. :(
