Well hello there!

by ChaoticDiva » Oct 27th, '10, 01:40

Hi, I'm ChaoticDiva, and I drink alot of tea.

Its probably because I work on and off for a large tea retailer.

Yet, I'm a pretty basic kind of girl. I like peppermint herbal, and breakfast black teas with a little half and half.

Nothing too fancy.

Anyways, I'm just saying hello! So hello!

:D

Watch out, you might catch some sencha-mania here, or puerh-fever, or oolong-longing, or even long-jing-lust. It's definitely a known risk of consorting with us here on teachat. And watch out for hagi-itis, a severe form of teaware-collectors' disease!

Puerh scares me. But that's because Teavana's puerh is marketed for weight loss (i.e. the gas tea, aka poo-air...lol).

As for Sencha...I'm not one for japanese green teas...I prefer chinese. My mom used to have this amazing chinese green tea that was jasmine and it came in a little golden tin. It was sooo good!

Puerh is traditionally considered to benefit digestion, but that doesn't mean it's only worthwhile if you're having tummy trouble. It can be lovely tea all by itself, and the term encompasses a huge variety of different teas--most of which are drunk without flavorings. I would have to assume that Teavana's offering, which I see comes only as loose flavored tea, starts with a lesser quality puerh, and then commits various flavor indecencies upon it, is not a representative introduction to the world of puerh.

It is scary to contemplate how much $$ some people will pay for certain vintages and makes, but lots of great stuff is available quite for delightfully inexpensive prices, at least compared to oolongs and green teas. Shouldn't be frightening at all.
