hello, i am new in this world and i like to understand many things.
first, i drink at the moment only chinese and japanese green teas, i buyed a beautiful yixing green clay teapot but i read on this forum that green clay (benshan lu) is not too good to use it.
this is the teapot i have

so i would like to have a suggestion to which kind of teapot is the best to use it with chinese and japanese green teas (i love very much kyusu, it can be ok?)
thx very much

Kyusu are great for just about anything IMHO. they really can be used for just about any tea depending on the filter type

You can definitely use a Japanese kyusu for both ... as long as it is not flavored or overtly roasted.
For Chinese greens though, I tend to use a gaiwan or glass ... something glazed/neutral.

nothing wrong brewing Chinese greens in Japanese kyusu...
They´re not made from the same material as yixing...they´re made from Japanese clays...most common is Tokoname.

Tokoname clay seems to be less porous IMHO.
Care to share what you are looking at?

Nice. I like dealing with Toru of Artistic Nippon personally ... he can also usually get you a kyusu based upon a photo.

+1 I bought my kyusu from Artistic Nippon. Toru makes photos available from several angles so you have a really good sense of what you're buying, and he answers email questions more quickly than any other vendor I've ever dealt with.

Nobody can say what is good for you, but is important to try to estimate as clear as possible the future use of the teapot (different teas behave differently) and also you should take into account:
- Teapot size - as related to quantity of tea brewed in a session (consider 2,3 steepings from the same leaves).
- Ease of use - shape, size,
- Type of filter - different pouring speeds, related to the capacity and the type of tea leaves.
- Thickness - usually not a problem with japanese greens as long as you pre-heat the teapot. Due to the short steeping times it won´t loose temp drastically.
- Ease of cleaning - some teapots look fabulous and are very functional but are a nightmare to clean and dry properly.
(I personally tend to prefer the flat shape ones to the tall type. Rimless, if possible. But that is only my personal taste, I would not and could not advice anyone else to follow it )
Anyway, first teapot is more or less as the first bike/car/motorcycle. Don´t go for a very expensive one, and don´t consider it definitive, because only after using it you will really decide what fits you best.
Cheers!
