Good TeaDay to all. You are all requested to stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday we discussed, "When was the first time ... you tried a particular type of tea and knew you were hooked on this type?" You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
This weekends TeaRoom poll and discussion topic. Off the TeaTrail again. When was the last time ... you went to a midnight movie showing. Was it a premiere? Do you know when your next midnight showing will be? Discuss whatever as well!
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone, bottoms up.

Re: Weekend TeaRoom 11/20-21/10 Midnight Run?
I saw The Dark Knight, Transformers, Ponyo(the English version, had already seen it in Japanese), Watchmen, Queen of the Damned, Iron Man, and a few others at midnight showings(only ever go to midnight ones for the premier). They can be fun, especially with the superhero-type movies since you get a lot of the hardcore fans there for that first showing. Ngl, I painted my face, my friend's face, and made the third person in our group dress up in a cheap Batman outfit for The Dark Knight.
Enjoying some TKY right now.

Hum, I think it was at Christmas last year, for Avatar.
Can't remember if that was the premiere or not.
Hummm. Probably not, but it was CRAZY packed,
definitely premiere week.
I look forward to more starting January when I have more
free time.

You're making me feel so old - the last time I was willing to wait on a really long line for a movie was for the original Star Trek movie - and in those days the first show was in broad daylight. There was the time we waited on line for Rolling Stone tickets to go on sale at midnight...
I supposed I should drink old tea for breakfast so I'll start the day with puerh.

Being the night owl that I am, I'm surprised to say it was "Quadrophenia" (by Britain's OTHER Fab Four...Pete, Rodger, John and Keith) back in 1980. Not sure if it was a premiere. The album from which the movie was created has always been a favorite and I still listen to it on a regular basis.

Yea, it was Thursday night for me. Harry Potter 7.1 - it was good, but work was rough on Friday. Ended up calling in "run-down," slept some more and went in about noon. Then had to work at the restaurant last night.. yesterday was long. Definitely thinking for part 2 I need to just go ahead and plan to have a half day off the next day.

I don't think I have ever gone to a midnight showing... I did see a movie opening day, though I can't remember what it was now.
Re: Weekend TeaRoom 11/20-21/10 Midnight Run?
I think the first and last midnight movie premiere I ever attended was in 1999 (more than 10 years ago, therefore, less than 20) and it was the opening of the first Star Wars prequel in 1999 at Manns Chinese Theatre in LA. The Phantom Menace
While history has largely poo-poo'ed all the prequels, and I don't disagree, the opening was a lot of fun.
I think Patton Oswalt's take on the prequels is hilarious. I'm not going to link it because I'm sure the language will offend someone, but a search for "at midnight I will kill george lucas with a shovel" will take you right to it.
Drinking my otti miyabi right now. It's better than the prequels.

I think I saw the midnight showing of Knocked Up. I also saw the midnight showing of Spider Man 2. I'm not much of a movie goer so I only see a few movies in theaters.

27 years ago I saw Rocky Horror and Eraserhead as midnight shows (not premiers).
More recently, 6 and 7 years ago, I took my son and a friend to a series of ``Kung Foo Fridays'' (a.k.a. kick-@ss fridays) at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline. We saw a wonderful production of ``A Pilgrim Journeys West'' (I think that translation is pretty close) which I understand is as well-known in China as The Wizard of Oz is to us in American. We also saw the futuristic ``Inframan'' which is so bad that it is almost good and which may have been the inspiration for the ``Power Rangers''.
I have been enjoying Red Circle's Emperor's Puzzle shui xian all day. I might taste kuradshi gyokuro in a little while.
