Re: aiya tea, anybody knows?
For a company that claims to be as big as they claim to be, they are largely off the radar. I ran into them at the World Tea Expo, tried some matcha but never got to try any looseleaf tea. The matcha seemed pretty good.

I just took a quick look at their web site. The opening image is attractive, but all the tea in the loose tea section is only available in tea bags.Chip wrote:For a company that claims to be as big as they claim to be, they are largely off the radar. What did you look at???JRS22 wrote: I just took a quick look at their web site. The opening image is attractive, but all the tea in the loose tea section is only available in tea bags.
They do not sell in bags.
I bought from Aiya Europe. Nice Service, fast delivery, no shipping costs above a specific value.
Very good packaging in sealed screwable tins.
Quality of the tea is good - not outstanding, but fresh, high quality and worth the price I think.
I tried a Matcha, a Sencha, Kabusecha and Genmaicha from them.

Interesting - I followed the Aiya America web site link in the original post and all the green tea was sold in teabags - even the gyokuro - while the European web site has the tea loose in tins.Marco wrote:What did you look at???JRS22 wrote: I just took a quick look at their web site. Strange - now I've seen that too.JRS22 wrote: Interesting - I followed the Aiya America web site link in the original post and all the green tea was sold in teabags - even the gyokuro - while the European web site has the tea loose in tins.
If you'd ask 'em they would say "It is 'cause the customer demands for it" - so makes me wonder what you Americans demand.
(don't take me serious)
