No name Gyokuro

by Uji » Nov 30th, '10, 18:11

I received a gift from a friend of some wonderful, easy brewing Gyokuro.
no name, other than "Uji, Japan". Gets me thinking about teas I have from time to time that are not well known and excellent quality. Sometimes I spend a lot for lousy tea. Sometimes I receive or buy inexpensive tea that is wonderful. Not always, but sometimes.

The best gyokuro I ever had was from a friend who got it from a friend. Never had any info on it, but it was sweeeet.

This was an odd anomaly in that, any other so called no name gyo I had was fair to middling at best.

Same with me. My 1st Gyo, bought in a supermarket on the outskirts of Tokyo by a friend. The only info they were given was 'it's the best'!
