Museum Teaware

Sorry..Phone pics werent great but I had to snap a couple while at the Museum in DC
they had 3 rooms of Japanese and Korean Teaware

I think that the first pieces really made in Hagi (or kilns nearby) were made in the early 17th century and not before.

Yeah I believe the signs said mid 1600's on the Hagi pieces if I remember correctly :)

If there's any interest I can dig out my museum photos from my trip to Shanghai. Their museum had quite a large section dedicated to Chinese pottery and I think I have a few pictures of tea pots there as well....

Very cool Ian! The glaze seems to have such depth.

Guess what? Same day I was able to buy a tea pot that was almost exact copy of the tea pot #6!!! Sure, the spout point slightly down but that's even more convenient for pouring. The lady at the store was asking for $240, I ended up paying $40.
