Eating Gyokuro
I like eating Gyokuro a lot. Usually I mix with soy sauce and sesame oil. One time I tried with miso but it was not very good tasting. Some Gyokuro is not good to eat but the higher quality is. Anyone share their Gyokura eating tips?

... just with a touch of soy sauce usually, but will mix with Asian noodle soup, rice or whatever. Oh, even a gyo omelet once.

No, means ran out of gyokuro ... it was actually much like spinach in an omelet, pretty good.Uji wrote:Omelet once means not so good.Chip wrote:... just with a touch of soy sauce usually, but will mix with Asian noodle soup, rice or whatever. Oh, even a gyo omelet once.
Also, rice, egg, gyo ... yum! Then topped with a little soy sauce.

the teashop i use to drink gyokuro serves me the leaves with
ponzu shōyu
soy sauce mixed with some japanese citrus fruit (yuzu)
fits perfect to the spinach-flavours!

Talking about the Cha-No-Ma, right? Have been there once and I am really jealous that we have nothing similar here in the city.qiao2zhi4 wrote:the teashop i use to drink gyokuro serves me the leaves with

All of my gyokuro or sencha with at least medium quality and not to much stems in it goes into my food
Sometimes in the salad, or in the rice or soup, or the noodles, or just to spice the food up a little bit. So never waste your tea to the worms

Re: Eating Gyokuro
Are the gyokuro leaves generally eaten after being brewed (a couple of times) for tea, or are they mixed with water specifically for a recipe (more flavour) ?

Absolutely brew at least several steeps first.skilfautdire wrote:Are the gyokuro leaves generally eaten after being brewed (a couple of times) for tea, or are they mixed with water specifically for a recipe (more flavour) ?

Sounds cool.
We need more pictures and recipes!!
This really makes me want to find a good Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately, a good one in my area closed a while ago and was replaced by mainstream Thai fast food
