Green tea (matcha) and sugar
Today i tried a mix of matcha, dry milk and sugar in a paper stick. Something like instant cocoa or coffee. Quite unusual, but actually i did like the taste and really easy to prepare. I didn't even think to make such mix. Got as a present from tea shop owner that i know, new product in his shop and probably mine too

Re: Green tea (matcha) and sugar
No, never ... I figure why add unneeded sugar/calories, etc. to something that tastes fantastic on its own. Besides, I have enough of a sweet tooth, but prefer to eat my sweets.
I kind of get the ease of use with the matcha stix, but you can just as easily put some matcha in a bottle and shake it up ... unless of course you want to experience matcha with all the accoutrements.
Now if I was thirsty for a matcha smoothie, then yeah.

I've put a little sugar, as well as sugar and milk in matcha. Maybe I'm strange, but I always pick up on bitter flavors in tea, chocolate, wine or coffee, rather than any supposed sweetness. Generally, sugar makes it a more enjoyable experience because I'm not tasting just tannins and various alkaloids. It allows me to taste those other notes that you all find in those foods, because it tones down the bitterness.Xell wrote:Today i tried a mix of matcha, dry milk and sugar in a paper stick. The sugar and milk in matcha...it's kind of like drinking warm green tea ice cream, but in a good way.
You can all hit me with sticks now!

Not me! As I always say, drink what you like, like what you drink. As long as you have an open mind.Owlie wrote: You can all hit me with sticks now!

I've been looking for this same stuff for a while now, a friend from Japan gave me some a while back called "matcha milk!"

Good deal. I just hope there's no "TeaChat Inquisition" or something.Chip wrote:Not me! As I always say, drink what you like, like what you drink. As long as you have an open mind.Owlie wrote: You can all hit me with sticks now!

Good to know i'm not the only one
Didn't look carefully before, but actually quite a lot of those matcha sticks in japanese supermarkets, but of course cheap and not really tasty. Those from Yame, Hoshino were a lot better
Also it looks like only matcha is tasty with sugar, didn't like anything else. Excect houjicha, but its not exactly green tea anymore

Rishi, I see, now has a sweet matcha. I'm kind of interested in trying it. Matcha 'lattes' make a nice change from my chai concentrate + milk habit.
