Hello, everyone! What was your first chawan? Pictures and experiences are most welcome!
I first became fascinated/familiar with Japanese tea ceremony when I watched
The Karate Kid, Part II a few years ago. Soon after, E-bay became an addiction for all things Chanoyu. Then, I came across the wonderful world of TeaChat. A tea nerd was born.
Here's mine: Kyo-yaki w/nezumi (rat) upon rice bales.

My first Chawa is named Pele and was made by Cory Lum. It is gorgeous and gets constant attention. I posted it on here a long time ago. I guess it's time to take another photo.

I had hoped a friend of mine would make me my first one, but she was not able to get to it, so I'm about to order this one from Amazon.

I look at it as a starter chawan, though perhaps the quality will be better than I expect.

Here's Pele, my first Chawan. It was made by Cory Lum. I posted photos of it here a long time ago, but without matcha, so I added some this time. I love this piece. It's quite hefty and I like that about it.

I got my very first in a set from Yuuki-Cha, back in June.

I now have two more sitting in my cupboard, and two new beauties on their way in the mail.

My first chawan, which was made by one of our resident Teaware artisians, BearsBearsBears.
I really should use it more often.

My first Chawan is by Jay Strommen

I nicknamed her Arashi which means storm in Japanese. I think the name fits perfect for her
