Friday TeaDay 2/18/11 What's old, doc?

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Yesterday was new, today is "OLD." Is there something that remains "old" and/or unchanging in your TeaWorld even recently? Please share what's OLD with us!

Most likely Teawares are going to remain old. The older the better it feels

For those aware, my son is still in hospital due to Fever Fit, but is getting under control. Blood result came back normal. If things goes well, we may bring him back today but have to take care of his temp very carefully.

The short story: Fever is not something to be taken lightly for babies till they are about 6 to 7.

Oh god, I'm so sorry. I know how scary fevers can. My daughter had a bad one when she was only a few months old. It's terrifying. I hope it all works out well and you can take him home soon.

What's old? Thursday's teaDay was mostly spent with the same TKY I've been drinking for about 30 years. That's a pretty stable relationship we've had.

But Friday's teaDay hasn't started yet....who knows, old or new?

Fevers, BTW, can seem pretty scary, but remember that they're happening for a reason--they help the immune system turn up the heat on a virus that can't take it. So not all fevers are bad, or need to be treated. And most often brief seizures associated with fevers in small children do not lead to any dangerous consequences.

I'm glad to hear that he is getting better! Hopefully he will be fine soon

Old stuff: I still enjoy my first favourites genmaicha and TGY. I still use a big old water glass for casual brewing of Chinese green tea and sometimes even TGY.

There is a lot of old stuff. I'll use the same teapots I've been using for decades, aged Puer and Heicha's, my favorite old cups. Of course, there'll be plenty of new stuff, but there's just something soothing about a piece of tea ware you've been using for years. It's like an old friend. It's also so much fun to drink aged teas you've aged yourself. gosh, isn't tea a wonderful adventure!

Old and Constant - revisiting Teachat

Oh, there are a couple oldish teas in the cupboard. About 50g's of silver needle that's a year old, probably a few samplers from vendors that I didn't like. You know. I have some 90's baozhong, but it's new to me so not sure if that counts.

This morning, I first had the 9th steeping of li shan from last night's guest session. I brewed it for a half hour, then placed in a whisky glass in the fridge until this morning. Really terrific. Then I had a strong cup of Irish Breakfast.

I've only been into tea for a little over a year, but I do have a growing collection of "old" things. I still have some of my old teas from Teavana. They discontinued the one I was considering repurchasing, so once their gone I'm officially done with Teavana.

I had some high mountain oolong (again) this afternoon.

Hm.. I've only been drinking tea for about a year so I don't really consider any part of my tea world old yet... well except a few stale lipton teas. Was so naive.

Yes, definitely-- my teacups! I got a lot of them from Goodwill, and one is from the mid-eighties, so it's like 25 years old. (Older than I am... )

Sometimes I find it hard to answer my own questions.

So, hm ... The older things tend to still be recent aquisitions. I do have many things from when I started drinking tea 12 years ago, but it mostly sits now as my methods are newer.

Began the TD with Sencha 7132 organic from O-Cha with the Mrs. Next up, Hosen from Ippodo, and finishing with Musashi karigane from O-Cha.
