Yesterday, I just found a new love, Burdock Tea. Love on first sip.

The dry leaf aroma almost makes we want to skip the brewing part and just eat the leaves!

I want to say my tea of the month was a new discovery. It was a green, it was Japanese... it was sencha! I mostly don't care for green tea, but I had a sample of Yumitea's sencha that really opened my eyes. It is a brilliant green in the cup, brothy, thick, vegetal, and sweeeeeeeet. I happened to have it a couple weeks ago when I had a bad cold. Drinking the sencha seemed to have helped give me some energy to be a bit productive at home. I am thinking I need to stock this tea in my tea cabinet along with my usual stuff: silver needle, jasmine pearls, tiekuanyin or a yancha, lishan or any formosa oolong that's good at the moment, yunnan gold tips or earl grey or darjeeling 2nd flush, a shou puerh (soon will add some sheng beengs).

Questions are: how best to store sencha? and is it ok to brew it in a glass or porcelain teapot? I store my above loose teas in steel double lidded steel canisters. Asked about glass/porcelain brewing because those lovely side-handled kyusu would unfortunately drive me nuts. I prefer brewing tea in vessels that can be handled equally by either hand. Please don't hit me, or disown me from TC. Everyone's kyusus here are beautiful to behold, and I'm sure they bring you great joy to use

While what I drank most this month was my boyfriend's favorite Taiwanese high mountain oolong, my favorite tea that I just recently sampled was Wuyi Ensemble from Adagio. I splurged on the shipping to try a couple different kinds of tea, so I'll have to try to find a good Wuyi I can order from somewhere in Korea.

I bought samples of black and oolong teas, and while I do like black teas, I'm thinking I love the taste of oolong more.

I'm drinking the Wuyi Ensemble now. Delicious.

It was a difficult choice between Maiko's kotobuki matcha and the Mandarin's Phoenix Mtn dancong, so I tossed a coin and the matcha won.

While ordering some teaware from Floating Leaves I decided to try their Aged Baozhong. I'm so glad that I did. It's roasty nutty goodness made a colder than usual Feb. much more tolerable.

A double lidded cannister is OK to store sencha.
For brewing it, porcelain is fine (I don't like glass but it should be OK too).

Jukro (Korean black) this afternoon. Nice, but not nice enough to be my tea of the month: Tsuru Jiru Shi gyokuro once again.

Because I can not think of any teas that stood out and Wow'd me this month, I am going to go with the tea I had the most of, which was a Fujian Hong Cha.

My favorite this month was Floating Leaves Tea 2010 Winter Li Shan oolong. Buttery, savory, fruity/sweet and floral.

As nearly total noob to really, REALLY enjoying tea, I'd have to say that my favorite this past month has been Rishi's Golden Yunnan. There have been a lot of teas and tisanes in my line-up as I get acquainted, but this was the first to really have the "wow!" factor for me. I've really been enjoying the boldness of it--it's hitting me with dried fruit sweetness and a bit of pepperiness that reminds me a bit of what I enjoy in red wines. Its been kind of a gateway drug because it's gotten me totally reved up about tea in general and exploring as much as I can.

Now, if you'd asked me this same question tomorrow, I'd be all in raptures about my first oolong experience this afternoon.

I am going with Organic Sencha 7132 from O-Cha, so different for a sencha. And began the TeaDay with this selection with the Mrs. Next up, Kiwami sencha from Zencha.

And currently day 3 of Pu-OTTI selection #2. Will this pu ever quit???
