Welcome to a Monday edition of TeaDay. All are welcome to share what is in their cup today. So fill up and tell the TeaWorld what you are drinking today, all day! Make sure you also check out what everyone else is drinking as well! If you need to, you can reflect back on your TeaDay as well.
Over the weekend we discussed the odds of picking up used teaware and/or tea. You can still vote and discuss the weekend's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic is a little break from intense tea discussion and gives us a chance to learn a little something about our fellow TeaChatters. Revisiting User Names here on TeaChat. Share what is the meaning of your User Name! Do you use it on any other forums, etc.?
We are all looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with ... everyone. Bottoms up!

It's a nickname. I had a big head and a skinny body. May I emphasize HAD! But the nickname stuck. I like it. Tadpoles are cute!
Having a mystery shou puerh tonight with a piece of chocolate swirl cake. Shou puerhs tend to make me sleepy. Does this happen to anyone else?

Few people have ever figured out mine. I'll give you a hint, say the three letters aloud.

It's a nickname for me too. I got it because I tend to have a lot of energy and move really quick especially when I'm work. Kind of like Hammy from the movie "Over the hedge."

I had to say it a few times.
Mine is my real name.

It's my user ID from work. It's made up of a two character prefix indicating the area I work in plus my initials plus a number. I'm a mainframe operator. DO = Data Operations.
This TeaDay is starting with a Russian Caravan.

Mine is an allusion to my pet, Louisa, a 20 year old Russian Tortoise. I don't have a pic on my PC to upload unfortunately. She is mighty cute, but that's not her in my avatar photo.
Daylight savings time threw me off pretty bad. I woke up this morning at the time I am supposed to be at work. Needless to say I rushed out without any tea this morning. I didn't even realize the time changed yesterday, because we had nothing planned but to relax. It's nice to be clueless sometimes.

I checked Other. I used it when I joined WetCanvas! online in 2003 when folk seldom used their real names and have just used it on other forums. At the time, I was painting in watercolors and I'm proud of being a mother and grandmother.

No nickname or anything, just the name of an obscure song by a really obscure (and disbanded) Japanese rock band.
I enjoyed some formosa oolong today.

My name is a short version of a longer nickname! LOL People started calling me that after we found out that the first part of my name was the same as a Tibetan seed syllable (Tāṃ), which just so happened to relate to my favorite bodhisattva, the green Tara. And my last name is green.
And that's the story!

I first started using this login a long time ago in a campus far, far away, when taking a computer class--learning to talk to a computer running unix, not actually programming, just using it. So it is my initials, plus unix. And because this letter combination is never taken when some of the other clever logins I make up are, I still use it from time to time.

Re: Monday TeaDay 3/14/11 User namer?
Long time ago, I was preparing for a D&D role-playing session with some friends. I needed a suitable name for an easily distracted elf with mediocre bow-shooting abilities. There was a comic book there with some strips of Sherman's Lagoon, in Norwegian called "Lagunen". Lagunen backwards is Nenugal. I thought the name was too interesting to throw away after the game was finished, so I continued using it for web-forums etc.

Re: Monday TeaDay 3/14/11 User namer?
I have been told on occasion that I tend to speak somewhat loudly at times. I'm certainly not yelling or anything though.Wikipedia wrote:In Greek mythology, Stentor (Greek: Στέντωρ; gen.: Στέντορος) was a herald of the Greek forces during the Trojan War. His name has given rise to the adjective "stentorian", meaning loud-voiced, for which he was famous. Homer said his "voice was as powerful as fifty voices of other men".
What can I say, when you speak, it's usually because you want to be heard, so you better speak up!

Since I knew I would do some "talking" here, I thought Stentor might be an appropriate name.
Besides, I always liked the word "stentorian" for some reason ever since I heard it in a song.
Also, it's not entirely impossible that there is some sort of minor similarity with my actual name.

LOL. So do I!IPT wrote:Few people have ever figured out mine. I'll give you a hint, say the three letters aloud.

As far as my TeaDay goes, it was a short one (busy day). However, I thoroughly enjoyed 5 steeps of O-Cha's Yutaka Midori Supreme when I got home.
