Hi! I've been dipping my feet so to speak into pu'erh lately.
I'm not at all well-learned so be kind but I had a question! I've been reading some tea books and they listed "types" of pu'erh by era. One of them was called "Seven Son's" which lists pu'erh that is from 1972-1990s.
I went to a tea store which had Seven-Son's Pu'erh but the earliest one was from 2002. Why is that? Shouldn't that be considered a "New" Pu'erh? Also for being a pu'erh it lacked a lot of earthy tones.
Thanks!

Re: Seven-Sons Confusion...
I think the book is referring to the era when the first CNNP-produced cakes that said yunnan qizi bingcha on them came out. "7 sons" refers to the 7 cakes in a tong. I think the end of the era they're talking about would sort of coincide with semi-privatization of state-owned factories, but don't quote me on that.
Cakes produced after this era are also produced with the same style of wrappers.
Young sheng (raw) puer will not have the same kind of taste as well-aged raw puer or ripe puer.
