Hi.
There are lots of very nice but different Japanese wares.
Which one is the most popular one?

Hagi for cups and chawans. However, I prefer tokoname or banko for kyusus and houhins.

Are you talking about those of us on the forum, in general around the world, or in Japan?
I personally like Hagi Yaki the most, and can not speak as to what might be the most popular in Japan, or around the world.

I have two Kyusu-s. A Hokujo Tokoname and a Masaki Banko. I like them both, but IMO the banko "magic" is humorously over-stated and I don't recommend buying them based on their ability to enhance tea in any way. The color of the clay is nice and I do not find it to be inferior, just not extra-special as they are sometimes marketed.
There are quite a few on your list that I'm not familiar with at all, but I'm no expert. Tokoname seems to be the most prevalent, but I'm in the U.S. and that assumption is based on the market here. For Kyusu, I think there is a much wider variety, aesthetically speaking, inside the world of tokoname and I enjoy mine very much for brewing.
For cups, I love hagi!

Most interesting piece for me from japanese pottery is kyusu, there is something that attracts me strongly. I can spend quite a lot of time just watching at them. Though i don't have much knowledge, but i really like tokoname yaki.

Voted Bizenyaki.... but you should have had "all of the above" as a choice.

I voted Tokoname. I know for a fact that my kyusu get a bit more action than my Hagi (though I love them both).
I love how organic Hagi are, how they leak and crackle and change over time. But I also love how sleek Tokoname kyusu look.

It could be added, but it would clear all the votes unless it simply replaces another yaki.olivierco wrote:No Kyoyaki?
For brewing Japanese tea, I most often reach for Tokoname and then Hagi, Bizen and some TC TeawareArtisan. For drinking Japanese tea, it is almost always Hagi and then TC TeawareArtisan!
There are others, but these are the leaders of the pack.
So, hard to vote since this was not clear, for brewing or for drinking.

I voted Mino, beacuse I like Shino the most.

Ohh... Sorry. I forgot kyoyaki. I was too quick.
Let us say kyoyaki and rakuyaki are the same, since raku is kind of kyoyaki.
Edited it now.
This poll is of cause only valid for you tea lovers here.
I personally vote for bizen, although I love tokoname and hagi.

Too many from which to choose but I chose Mino as several lovely types of pots came from there historically. I'd love me a nice old crusty Shino tea bowl.
