Re: Official what White/Yellow are you drinking right now?
Sipping some Yinzhen (Silver Needle) tea that I ordered from die Kunst des Tees at the same time as some pu'erh teas.

Drinking the Shangrilla white tea from Nepal again, but this time I am using a yixing pot for gongfu style. This preparation has provided more flavor & a noticeable amount of caffeine. I'm quite happy I did not stay in my usual routine. Looks like I'll be able to combat the cold air invading the apartment w/ lots of infusions.

Just pulled out some aged White Tea cake, pressed in 2010. Earlier this year I prepared it probably by using too hot water (bit bitter!), because this time using ~80 deg. C. I really enjoy the sweetness and the hints of nutty notes

In order to keep my mind cool after the Christmas "holiday's" an excellent Mingqian Huang Ya found luckily the way into my Celadon Gaiwan, providing fine sweet hints of refreshing spring nature...

I'm trying to finish up some teas that are too drinkable to give up on, but not good enough to cause a craving. Today I gave some yellow tea another chance. It's Mo Gan Huang Ya from Seven Cups. I tried it in my Seong-il Onggi hobin because the unglazed interior affects tea, generally in a positive way. I'd say that it made the Mo Gan good enough to drink regularly until the canister is freed up, a mere 4 days, but not good enough to reorder.
Yellow tea usually sounds better to me than I tastes, but I'll try again next year with a different one.

Bai Mu Dan I've had aging for two years. Brew is darker and less floral/fruity--tastes somewhat like an aged oolong. Wasn't fancy to begin with, but it's come along quite nicely. I bought this stuff when I first signed up for teachat and it's been aging in glass ever since!

Just tried the "Glenburn Silver Needle" from Butiki Tea.
They have a remarkably wide selection of white tea! This is just so exciting for a white tea lover in a world where variety is lacking. This particular one is a Himalayan silver needle tea from the Glenburn Estate, which “is working closely with the board of the Ethical Tea Partnership, which focuses on sustainability and living and working conditions of those working at tea estates,” which is also super cool. They also have a Kenyan silver needle that I’m DYING to try. Has anyone ever had tea grown in Africa? Sounds intriguing.
This stuff is seriously one of the best-smelling teas ever, just super yummy and fruity, like candy and dried fruit and soda but also ever-so-slightly vegetal, like a meadow of grass and wildflowers, with some malt and wood pulp. It tastes like a fruity gaoshan, super buttery but a little grassy. I got 26 brews out of it in a 200 ml zisha pot that I devoted to silver needle.

26 brews? From a white tea? Do your leaves fill the pot and raise the lid after they're hydrated?
Re: Official what White/Yellow are you drinking right now?
Haha, no I used a 7 g sample, I promise! That's how much I use every time I brew silver needle, it fills up half of the teapotdebunix wrote:26 brews? From a white tea? Do your leaves fill the pot and raise the lid after they're hydrated?
These leaves were quite impressive indeed

Indeed. I've gone to 7 or eight infusions when is was just enjoying the sweetwater at the end, but 26 would be unprecedented even for my dilute tea-wimp taste.
Re: Official what White/Yellow are you drinking right now?
I know, right? I was astounded. I'll certainly be buying this stuff again (and maybe I'll try that Kenyan silver needle and report back on it).
I had thought that maybe some of that stamina was a result of the seasoning of my teapot... but surely the teapot alone can't make a tea last that much longer than it normally would, especially after only a year of use, right?

Noooo! I just went to finally buy a few ounces of tea from Butiki and they are closed! Anyone know where I can find a decent silver needle?
