I'm placing an order on YS?
My birthday is coming up and as a present to myself I set aside $100 to blow on puerh teas and accesories. I'm a newbie at puerh I have tried some samples fro jas-etea, and i seem to enjoy ripe more than raw, raw seems to be very astringent for my taste. I am looking for a slightly sweet smooth easy taste. So far I have added to my $100 list 2008 0622, 2008 7572 (803), and 2009 7542, i still have another $25 to blow please make suggestions and comment on the selections I have already made? Thanks
Re: I'm placing an order on YS?
You mentioned you don't like raw because of its astringency. I'm confused as to why you'd want 7542 or 0622.
Maybe buy some more Shu or perhaps something aged from another vendor.

Re: I'm placing an order on YS?
my thinking is i'm not brewing it correctly so i want to try raw to experiment with

Man, color me amongst the dubious. You obviously need to grab a bunch of samples first, even though that's expensive.
If you still want cakes, I'd do honor by your birthday and just get one or two good cakes.

There, if you decide to go the one or two bing route, here are at least something that has a chance to make you happy. Or, you know what? Essence of Tea might be a better idea. A Banpen + 2011 Nannuo might really do a heart good.

Yeah, you've still got a good 10-20 samples to work through before you work out the kinks. Also, lay off the raw Menghai...ugh. Trust me, wait before you buy a bunch of cakes. Two of my first three cake buys were complete mistakes.

You're very lucky and only need to pay 'tuition fee' twice. I'm such a slow learner, it took me a lot longer and much more tuition fee to begin to have some very rough idea about puerh tea.
Dagestan... ,
You can mark me as even more dubious. If you still can't resist to have raw Menghai or any big factories, make sure they are pre-2004 production at the very least or even better before 2000. Only problem with that is $$$$$ for any real things.
But at the end of the day, it's quality not quantity.
By the way, there are no more cakes for Essence of Tea 2011 Nannuo, only sample left, but 2011 Mansai is still available.

2009 Hai Lang Hao "Jin Hao Gong Bing"
$13.40/200g, Yes its 09 but it is ready to drink and the price it reasonable.

Shipping can be pretty high from china unless your willing to wait a while for your shipment. If you don't already have a good stock of tea that wait can become a problem if you run out before it shows up. why not order a few cakes from jas-etea?
Menghai 7272, 7572, 7452, 7562, Lao Cha Tou?
Those are all shu. Seeing as you prefer that type I'd suggest skipping young sheng until your budget allows for a couple of duds.

It's expensive, but I'd recommend a sample of this

Purple version tastes nicer than Red, but even Red version tastes much better than most new big factories sheng.

I didn't know (samples of) those cakes were still available. Wish they weren't in China.MarshalN wrote:It's expensive, but I'd recommend a sample of this
