Recommendation for starter samples?

by Mare of Earth » Jun 30th, '11, 12:10

I have looked at many of the linked vendors who have pu-er samples - never having heard of, let alone actually tried pu-er before I found this forum, I am really not sure where to start.

Can anyone recommend a few good starter samples for this type of tea?

I mostly drink Japanese sencha and genmaicha, as well as several varieties of jasmine scented tea and herbal infusions. And Lipton iced tea - I live in Alabama, after all!

I am very intrigued by all of your descriptions of this variety of tea, and am just looking for a starting point! :)

My introduction was an aged sheng kinda similar to this http://www.houdeasianart.com/index.php? ... cts_id=291

I thought it a good intro.

This aged shu also looks like a good introduction...

Actually, all good merchants carry samples.
For example:
http://www.houdeasianart.com/index.php? ... bce29eeea5
http://www.essenceoftea.co.uk/ will send you any teas in sample size
http://www.yunnansourcing.com/store/ has many samples

I suggest you to read the descriptions and try the samples of the teas you like the most
