These links give a very good reference and high resolution close up photos of antique tea, Mark grade tea etc. (writing are in Chinese as it's from a forum in HK). Not quite digital compendium of pu yet, but I think it's still very interesting.
This is cake only
This is a page which leads to other links of different cakes, tuos or bricks
Some of you might find the information on the site useful (I'm quite happy to translate some of them, if some of you find something on the site and want to know a bit more).
From the info on the site, I just learned that "Snow Mark" was named by a Taiwanese tea merchant with surname Huang in Nov 1999. The cake is 7532 and it was made in 1987 by Menghai Tea factory.
Re: Good photos of Red Mark, Snow Mark, 88 Qing, YYX etc.
Yesterday, someone in this forum asked me to hunt for 88 Ching Bing (Malaysia storage) and I found it today.
According to the boss, there is no 88 Ching Bing that is 100% stored in Malaysia. The batch that he has is personally stored in Malaysia for more than 10 years.

Edit: I found the reason why the Toong leaves looks so new. I asked the boss and he said the old Toong leaves are too damaged, so he took it out and put it into some other Toong leaves to hold it. The image of the Toong is not the original container.

So I told the boss, I have a friend abroad who wants to buy some samples. He tried to find but there isn't sample copy, so he opened up a new piece. Broke some of the samples and sold it to me. Now, since he opened and there are bits and pieces, we took the opportunity to try
Pic 1 to 3, is brew 1 to 3.
I have to be honest. I was expecting more out of this expensive Pu. It is smooth. Light woody taste. Not deep flavored but good 'chi'. Some how I don't feel satisfied from this.

The tong wrapper is REALLY new looking. Suspicious...
Re: Good photos of Red Mark, Snow Mark, 88 Qing, YYX etc.
It is not the first time I see very nice Toong wrapping in the shop for old tea there. Eg, 1999 Red Mark 8668 toong is also very new.
If you ask me, I don't know. This is my first encounter with 88. But a senior I know was there, and he said the piece is real.

Out of curiosity... would it really be surprising to "re-tong" something?MarshalN wrote:The tong wrapper is REALLY new looking. Suspicious...

I think I have to ask the teashop about the same question. The beeng looks older than the toong.

Original storage from HK then Taiwan then everywhere. Cloud got mentioned this in his website. This tea is still not good for consumption. Wait another 15 years
Well, 88 raw is just 7542 from the late 80s anyway. It's also famous because the concept of dry storage was first actually introduced. There's a story about it can be found somewhere online. This is the pic of the merchant who bought them out from zhongcha back then.

Please let us know the store name, and if you have a pic of the store front? That will be wonderful! Thanks Auhckwauhckw wrote:I think I have to ask the teashop about the same question. The beeng looks older than the toong.

Snow Mark

Didn't snap the back cause it is not original. Owner opened to check.

What makes it "snow mark"? I see the added sticker that says it (雪印), but what about the original gave it that name?

I was told it has got to do with the 'snow effect' marks on the fonts and the center logo. How true? Can someone confirm?Drax wrote:What makes it "snow mark"? I see the added sticker that says it (雪印), but what about the original gave it that name?
