Re: Saturday TeaDay 8/13/11 CURRENT FAVES, teapot?
I love my kyusu. Even when I drink alone, I like having a little extra tea from each steep.
I've been drinking Korean green tea, iced, all day, and I had the last of my iroka matcha this morning and omija cha this afternoon when I went out shopping for a replacement.

Currently [as usual] Yixing.
But I have a small black, stone polished, Yun Nan Teapot on the way from Scott!
When it arrives for at least a day or two IT will become my favourite.
It is normal for me to have a couple of all time favourites
But when a new pot arrives
excitement relegates them
And seemingles trivial events, spotting a Jay in the garden, early in the morning for instance, can trigger something in the brain - - "Oh,
I have not used THAT Teapot for a while
" and another teapot will take centre stage for a while.

Re: Saturday TeaDay 8/13/11 CURRENT FAVES, teapot?
My most amazing recent tea experience was a new green tea brewed in my Petr Novak shiboridashi....because the tea was amazing, and quite enhanced in the shibo vs the other vessel I tried it in. So....even though I cannot currently brew in it (first attempt at repair is not yet watertight), that amazing experience puts it on top of the list for now.

But I have a few new oolongs that I'll be trying in my little Seong-il pot, and that might move it up the list while the shibo is out of action. It's crackling is even more intense and gorgeous than this now....

But currently only have some cold-brewed tea for a long drive through the desert.

My fave is an hong ni Yixing Ping Gai Jing Lan. I got this to replace the pot that I use for my morning yan cha.
This morning I am finishing brews from yesterdays teas, a shui xian and a temomicha.

It depends what tea... for senchas, I love my kyuusus. For everything else, I use a gaiwan, right now (still eyeing the shallow end of the Yixing pool)... just so convenient. Sadly, my favourite gaiwan has recently had an accident, so I'm feeling out my others...
Gaiwans are just so beautifully easy to use and clean. Brilliant vessels.

This is like asking a parent which Child they like the best
.... ummm can I go with I like them all?
I have been turning to my new Yancha Yixing more often recently, because it is the newest teapot I have. But they are all quite lovely.

Veeeeery difficult question.
I have a favourite kyusu (my first Japanese tea ware, a Tokoname "Nerikomi Komaru"), a favourite gaiwan ("White Lotus on Blue") and a favourite yixing pot (Little Lequ Pot by Xiaofang Wan)...
Currently drinking kirameki shincha.

My favorite teapot is my Matsukawa tokoname kyusu, but I only have two all together unfortunately.
Musashi sencha from Kagoshima this early afternoon.

My current favorite is usually my newest teaware. I bought a medium glass gaiwan in a suburban tea shop. No tea purchase - everything seemed flavored or herbal or Ayurvedic, but lots of pretty teaware. The gaiwan is delicate hand-blown glass that pours very well. I also bought a washi tea canister.
I also now have a set of simple Bavarian porcelain tea cups. My sister has all our mother's china and crystal and she found these cups packed away that she thought would fit with my minimalist style teaware. They're just the right size for the new glass gaiwan, so I may have to buy another one. The combination is perfect for tea tastings.
I took photos with my iPad but I still haven't been able to post them from there.
I used this teaware combination this morning to brew 2011 Gu Zhu Zi Sun from Jing.

Re: Saturday TeaDay 8/13/11 CURRENT FAVES, teapot?
I have literally been thinking about this all day, and I have no singular answer! Who makes these questions up anyway!!! Can I answer that my fave is whatever pot I am using? I guess not. Hope to have an answer soon.
Great TD beginning with the OLD version of Miyabi, 2010 with the Mrs.. Really good stuff! Next up, Hana No Kaori.
Currently iced SLT!

Re: Sat/Sun TeaDay 8/13-14/11 CURRENT FAVES, teapot?
Hah. One huge advantage of having only one teapot is that polls like this are a breeze to answer.
I have one teapot. It's of unknown origin. It's brown ceramic and I'm pretty sure it's a common store bought item. But it may be an artisan thing. I think I got it for Christmas many years ago.
It's now filled with sencha. Mmmmm.
