I have 3 'swirly' Shyrabbit cups (plus 2 in a different style). One interesting thing about them is that even though they're on the thick side, the cups feel just right when drinking from them. The swirls help protect delicate fingers from hot tea, and the glaze feels silky.
Can you tell that I'm a fan!

I love my swirly-whirly-drippy Shyrabbit cups as well, along with my several other Shyrabbit cups, all so eminently comfortable to use.

Do any forum members own her work? It seems very heartfelt.

Not higher, generally a set of cups with her work are a few hundred bucks? However i would never drop nearly 2k on a teapot.. save another 1000 and i could buy myself another nihonto..BioHorn wrote:By your reaction I imagine they are higher?!Fuut wrote:I see this coming by quite often, but never for these pricesBioHorn wrote:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Collec ... 1898346414

Why would that price make you angry?Fuut wrote: Looks very nice.. price makes me
It is actually a very normal and good price for a good Chawan in Japan.

To specify; what makes me angry is in my inability to afford items like this one.JBaymore wrote:Why would that price make you angry?Fuut wrote: Looks very nice.. price makes me

Re: Not my teaware.....but I wish it were....
Yesterday, I was at an international festival at U-Mass Medical School (in Worcestor) primarily to sell Burmese jade but also things I have acquired over the years but somehow have never used, including beautiful teapots, cups, bowls, vases, etc. Dozens of people enjoyed viewing & holding ceramic pieces; no one was willing to spend > $15 on anything.
It's not the habit of most people to buy handmade pottery & pay a price that takes into account the time, work, & skill required to produce them.
Some people quickly put a handmade cup back on my table w/ a look of disgust after they heard the cup cost $10. Many people like that pay a few dollars to have some whipped milk w/ syrup layered onto their coffee once or twice a day. That's what they are used to doing.
