Yixing Stickers

Let's see how far we can get dating the various Yixing stickers...

In this thread, we can see the diamond sticker used in the late 80's through early 90's, but do we have a specific range of years?

Over on Teadrunk, we have a reference for the oval "green egg" sticker dating from '77-'82.

I found and bought a very commercial quality pot with an earlier 80's diamond sticker, but like an idiot, I peeled and threw the sticker away before taking a pic. From my memory, it was orange and blue, but I could be wrong.

I'm sure there's plenty of info to be found on the web, but I'm not turning up much info in English anyway. Anyone want to add/clarify/fill in the blanks? Photos greatly appreciated!

Well, the main thing I know about those stickers is that they're easily (and commonly) faked. So, while a real expert could probably identify many "fake" (whatever that means) stickers, I don't know that stickers are that useful in terms of dating a pot, etc, and I would bet that the diamond sticker has never stopped being produced since it was made.

Very true, but you gotta begin somewhere! If we can get a set of authentic sticker pics going here, then at least we'll know what era the fakes are aiming to misrepresent. Telling fake pots from real is a whole other skill set. I'm just curious about the history of the stickers really.

Resurrecting this thread from the dead, because I was always bummed about not getting the correct info/pics. What else is going on in this forum lately anyway? Might as well.

I have a pot with a sticker, but I think it is a different kind of sticker. The box this came in has a sticker that states "waiting lounge at Shanghai's International Airport." So, if the sticker on the side has any correlation then maybe not...

Ah yes, the famous Waiting Lounge commissioned pots of '84-'87. Oil drum fired and clay from Mine #1. Top of the line and very collectible- especially in Taiwan.

Stickers are the most unreliable and "dangerous". You can easily get a whole page of green mark or fangyuan stickers to decorate.

In general, the factory 1 stickers are as follows

Green mark (oval made in china, green with gold trim and words)
is from 1977 right up to as far as 1983-1984.

The fangyuan (the squarish diamond ones, with a white or gold line) is from 1986-1992. There are a few variations of this one, which some has theories on which of those came first. But the range of years is a quite low to worry too much about it.

The laser (shiny ones) are from 1993-1997. These are actually hard to peel off.

That's a basic summary, but stickers is the very last thing anyone should rely on!

From what I know, that's Factory-2 sticker

Anyways, there are faked ones, but the faked ones are usually quite easy to filter out and there are also real stickers on imitation Factory-1..which is quite harder to filter out on solely stickers..

Mine #1 shut down in 65..are you sure they had been keeping the clay up to using it in the mid-80s?

Mine #1 shut down in 65..are you sure they had been keeping the clay up to using it in the mid-80s?

The Shanghai Airport Mafia kept secret tunnels to Mine #1... or at least that's what I've been told.

there eras are about there plus minus 2 years or so.

some taiwanese will insert in a period of 1983-86 where there was "no label" used, pushing square fang yuan label to '87, and the round green label to '82 and before.

these "periods" do have distinct clays and workmanships which serves as greater determinants of identification.

Well, it's cool to know where this pot originates from. It's 300ml, just one of the giants I have in my collection. Didn't have any idea what the sticker said. I just took it off of the pot the other night.
