Re: Thursday TeaDay 9/29/11 Taste new teas?
Springtime is try new tea-time for me, particularly for green tea when the new harvests become available.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 9/29/11 Taste new teas?
Spring. This year, I tried to drink everything that was out there, especially young puerh... Won' t do it again, I've drunk too much bad stuff

Re: Thursday TeaDay 9/29/11 Taste new teas?
Yeah Spring! For obvious reasons. Although I also tend to want to try more teas around this time of year. Green tea seems to match spring. Yancha seems to match autumn.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 9/29/11 Taste new teas?
I would have said "definitely" spring, before beginning to drink Puerh. Now it can be an all year round experience. Now my routine is green teas to start the day, and then puerhs later. Sencha Karigane is to me what fresh oj is to others.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 9/29/11 Taste new teas?
No, definitely not
I'm still pretty new to loose leaf teas so I am constantly trying new teas. Almost every purchase I make is a new tea.

Anytime can be a food time for new tea. Which tea is most appealing might change with the season, but not the interest in new vs familiar tea.
Familiar Da Hong Pao yesterday afternoon, familiar Jin Xuan green tea in the afternoon, familiar Sayamakaori sencha this am, but signed up for a tea tasting for some new teas yesterday.

I would probably say more summer to be honest. My birthday is in May which usually means I have a little money to burn. So come June I usually get my first order of spring teas in.

Re: Thursday TeaDay 9/29/11 Taste new teas?
I picked yeah sort of because I tend to have more money in the summer (summer job) but I often spend it on old favorites with only a little going to new tea. This year is also starting to look like an exception now that I have found a new tea store.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 9/29/11 Taste new teas?
I'm right in there with everyone else... Summer!! I tend to stray some into Autumn as well. I've got a bit more money at my disposal. I'm not as limited, which allows me to branch out a bit.
Re: Thursday TeaDay 9/29/11 Taste new teas?
yeah when I go to taiwan I try out a lot of stuff
I am trying out new things constantly throughout the year but not at such a hurried pace (even though I have 'favourites' I don't have set regulars (except one taiwanse hmt). I really enjoy trying out new good quality teas, smile just thinking about how there is so much good I have yet to experience
Some old loose leaf sheng (well mostly sheng), mixed with some younger sheng today at work , definitely enjoyable but I am kinda chasing after my first experience with this mix , possibly faulting the present experience

Busy busy day ...
While I do consistantly load up on shincha in April and May, I have noticed loading at other times as well.
January I am always playing catch up and need TEA. August/September as well as my Spring buys have been depleted.
Actually every 4 months ... never really realized that til this second.
I seem to load up and then deplete almost completely.
Great TD began with a prelim OTTI tasting of Guricha from Den's with the Mrs. Next up, a new bag of Kame Gyokuro ... whoa .. GOOD!!!!!

Re: Thurs/Fri TeaDay 9/29-30/11 Taste new teas?
Around summer and fall I just get into a tea kind of mood.
That's usually when I want to start tasting some new stuff and lucky for me new harvests come out during these times. I stock up and cruise through the winter on the stockpile I've created.
Today I decided to be mellow so I mixed tea flower, rose petal, and a tiny bit of lavender to make a nice herbal brew.

Other than springtime for shincha, I buy a good number of teas throughout the year.
