Is anyone familiar with the company Yixing.com? I've never seen it mentioned here which makes me a little wary. But I'm interested in this pot, which I'd like to use for western style brewing. http://www.yixing.com/product_detail.html?sku=f86
I'd be grateful for any comments or suggestions.
Thanks,
Gilberto

Thanks Mike and Ambrose for saving me from certain disappointment. I appreciate your taking the time to help out someone so new to all this.

If you need vendors that sell quality teapots (not many unfortunately) online feel more than free to ask. It's a jungle out there!

Re: Anyone know Yixing.com?
I also found this site some minutes ago. The pots looks really awsome. So how do you know they are crap? How did you notice? Could you might recommend a real good site with quality yixing pots? thank you ^^
Re: Anyone know Yixing.com?
If you need an explanation as to why a vendor who sells this is crap, I think you're in over your head. Search the forum. TONS of recommendations.

Re: Anyone know Yixing.com?
I actually own an yixing.com pot that I was given many years ago when I didn't even drink tea. It was selected for its decorative value and it is a very pretty pot. Once I began drinking tea it just didn't seem to have the properties of a truly functional pot.
As for the pig pot, I thought there was a tradition of owning pots that correspond to your Chinese zodiac symbol. Maybe zodiac pots are also meant to be decorative and no more.

Which online sites do you recommend? I have my own list but it's really short and most of the vendors are out of stock on everything.bagua7 wrote:If you need vendors that sell quality teapots (not many unfortunately) online feel more than free to ask. It's a jungle out there!
Re: Anyone know Yixing.com?
OK, you could have used the search function: tons of info especially coming from the forum regulars (tjk, wyardley, Adam (Origin Tea pots), etc.).
Vendors I have bought pots from which I use and found real Yixing:
1. Jing Tea Shop (best quality)
2. Wisdom China/eBay (some pots)
3. zen8tea/eBay (some pots)
4. Essence of Tea (best quality)
5. 5000friend/eBay (some pots, they are not old zhu ni, just a hong ni based blend but they brew excellent gaoshan oolong which is the main reason I use & like them).
Others no longer active, unfortunately, so I won't recommend them.
