Greetings TeaFriends. Please stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day. And of course please discuss the topic of the day.
We discussed the best tea of the month for September the last few days. Please continue to discuss this topic. I still have to figure out my personal best tea for the month.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. There has been a noticable chill in the air for the first time in 5 months, have your tea drinking habits changed with the imminent change in the weather? Please share.
We are looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with ... everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 10/4/11 brrr ... chachachanges?
I stopped drinking cold brewed teas about a week or so ago. I am once again enjoying hot teas in the morning and at work.
I've been working on finishing up my bag of Karigane gyokuro, and Adagio's Fujian baroque at work.

Will be returning to more traditional English blends of black tea. I've been enjoying trying some greens and lots of oolongs this summer, but come autumn and especially winter I'll be looking for familiar "comfort" tea.

Artmom after reading your post I decided to make a black/red tea for breakfast. Not a traditional English blend but certainly along the right lines of thinking with your post.
Sadly it is the last of that batch of Hong Cha, some random Fuijan Hong Cha.

Well, no perceivable changes yet ... but I expect my nightly iced SLT sencha habit will fade very soon. Other things that creep in are more Gyokuro-s and more alternative greens. More oolong and black and pu-erh which is mostly non existant in the warmer months.
But so far, no change.

The darker oolongs and puerh are suddenly looking more attractive with the cooler weather....out with the cold-brewed tea, in with the hot and toasty....but it will a subtle switch, a little more emphasis of one over the other.
Today, starting with Sayamakaori sencha from my Petr Novak kyusu & chawan.

For me, colder weather means darker teas. There are always exceptions, of course.

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 10/4/11 brrr ... chachachanges?
Thank you all, my first birth day on this forum
It's not that hot anymore, now it's more close to my comfort temperature and i actually can drink hot tea as much as i want. More green tea for me. Just prepared a bit of matcha, seems i can sleep fine even if i drink one late into evening. But at daytime i started to prepare bigger amount at once, 120ml and 4 full chasaku.

not really any change yet, don't really see much a shift towards a certain tea type (trying out a nice variety).

Re: Tuesday TeaDay 10/4/11 brrr ... chachachanges?
My tea drinking habits are constantly changing but I don't believe it is due to the weather. I can't be sure of the future however, so I voted not likely.
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 10/4/11 brrr ... chachachanges?
I find that in cooler weather I am more likely to shelve the high-end oolongs and small brewing vessels and instead reach for a cheap, strong, mug-worthy black, a heavy, furry, leopard-printed blanket, and a good, thick book.
The cooler weather just makes me lazy, honestly.
Today I have a blend of Adagio's Yunnan Jig and Oolong #8. Here I was thinking I would have to toss the Yunnan (remind me to never buy a pound of tea again, no matter how much I think I love it) thinking I was just too burned out on it, until it found a new life after mingling with some old oolong samples I forgot I had. Somehow the combination tastes nothing like the parts and altogether wonderful.

Hi! I have not changed my tea drinking yet but I was just thinking about getting into spiced blends again - soon will be the season! I love making home-made chai brews in fall and winter.
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 10/4/11 brrr ... chachachanges?
I live in florida and when it does get a little chilly....i break out the holiday spice teas like apple spice chai and other chais.
I normaly a black tea drinker but when it gets cold and I feel sick...I like to drink green tea also.

No more matcha for the year
. In with the gyokuro!
. Will be working some roasty oolongs in there pretty soon on my days off too.
